London To Brighton
It seems that so many clubs do a London to Brighton run - Smart Cars, Minis, we even did a Sincliar C5 London to Brighton run back in 2006. Just wondered if anyone has done this run before for the Mk3 ? If not, would anyone be up for doing it just for a laugh ? We could start in London ( obviously )...

We split up and went to three different cafes, one person at each cafe, one cafe each, for just over an hour.

Re: how many mk3s left
I did a little test of my own yesterday. This might mean I am a sad git for doing this, but along with two mates, who also both had nowt to do yesterday, we decided to sit in three different cafes in the Wycombe area all that have good sight of the road. Then, over a fried breakfast and a mug of cof...

Re: What is it about the Mk3 ?
Some great answers there, and I agree with all of them - exactly why the Cav is one of the few cars in the world that I have never heard a bad word said about them ! A good point made above really made me think..... It quite unreal to think that the Cav Mk3 was released while Ford was still making t...

Re: Alloys now fitted & Car Cleaned !
hey, the frosty windows match the grille :thumb  Doesn't look bad though. Wheels look good, will be better with the center caps fitted. and 4 is always better than 3 :cool I'm sure once the sun's out, IF its out, she'll gleam away and you will see the result then. Very tidy from the pics, it's...

Alloys now fitted & Car Cleaned !
Really like the difference the cleaning and fitting of Alloys has made to my Cav ( three alloys fitted, one coming ), so I thought I would post some pics. Its not up to the standards of many cars on here, but I love it all the same, especially now its running too !! http://i643.photobucket.com/album...

What is it about the Mk3 ?
Just wondering, what is it that makes everyone one here love their Mk3 so much ? Maybe its because its your first car and so its the sentimental side of things, maybe its simply that you like certain features or certain things about it, maybe its because a family member had one and you grew to love ...

Mileage
After an idea mentioned by Sierrapaul, thought we could start a thread to find out whose car is the highest mileage.
I will start.
VAUXHALL CAVALIER 1.8L AUTO, J REG, 64,000 MILES
Whose next ?

Re: Starting Problem
Thanks mate. Now that I have got it started and it seems to be running well, I am happy to spend money on it so its going to go for a full service. I will get the choke mass checked out at the same time and repaired if needed. Really appreciate your help and valuable advice mate, thanks for that. St...

How Rare are Mk3's
Can someone tell me, how rare are Mk3's getting now. Now that I have a Mk3, I find myself looking for other Mk3's on the road. However, in the last 2 weeks I have not seen ANY other Mk3's in my area. I know its only been 15 years or so since they were last made, but I am surprised I am not seeing al...

Re: Starting Problem
Result !!!! Got back from work today and just decided to try the car one more time. It started first time and revved up perfectly. I left it running for a good few hours. The engine had obviously got very damp over the last few months of not running as there was steam everywhere, but this soon clear...

Re: Starting Problem
Does the starter kick in and turn the engine over? Think we all assumed it did until those last couple of posts, if it does then it is not gonna be an inhibitor issue. Again, if it does, I just read back through the topic, it might be worth looking at the choke mass. Can you tell me where to find t...

Re: Starting Problem
Just tried it again, with a fully charged battery. It turned over fine and "tried" to start by firing a little before going back to the norm which is turning over fine but not firing at all.
Strong smell of petrol coming from engine too.

Re: Starting Problem
No, sorry, I dont have a Hanyes.
If its got a faulty inhibitor switch would the car still turn over ?
The car turns over fine, just wont fire up and start, except on the one occasion it did start.
Just to confirm, it is a 1.8 with Auto Box

Re: Starting Problem
Ok, so I have tried all of those things to no avail. Everything on the car seems to be doing what it is suppose to do except actually start running ! I am starting to give up now, which is a shame as its not in bad condition at all ( as can be seem from the valet guides I have done ). I love this ca...

Welcome to the forum !
I have not been a member for long myself, but in the short time I have been on here I have got nothing from this forum other than great, friendly and helpful advice.
I love Mk3 Cavs, brilliant cars, and this forum has proved to be every bit as good as the cars we love !

Re: RAC vs the AA. which is best?!
I have been lucky enough never yet to have had to call on the RAC which I am with, but Maria, my partner, needed to call them just last sunday when the front wheel on my Dads Mondeo sheared off on the busy A404 Amersham to Wycombe road. It happened on a duel lane road that had no hard shoulder, just...
