Just like to say thanks for all your replys but after carefull consideration I'm afraid I'm going to scrap my car as I can't spare any cash on the possibility the repair is unsuccessfull, so I will be ringing around to see what scrapyard's are willing to give me tomorrow.

I'm located in Stoke on Trent about 1 mile from Junction 15 of the M6.

I've been told that the head is possibly gone so I would be spending money for nothing, not being mechanically minded I'm not sure what to do.
It may be time to say goodbye and look for a replacement.
