Re: 1994 Cavalier LSi C20NE (was C18NZ) Work-horse
Good plan to have, at least you can get the obvious things sorted for MOT then take it along for pre mot to get any wee niggles sorted before the main event. Was your emissions still a bit of a problem or you got that all sorted? I think you said you were changing the cat or something didn't you? Ch...

Re: 1994 Cavalier LSi C20NE (was C18NZ) Work-horse
Didn't know carz2 had shut. I ordered the drivers side panel last Year and N/S already been replaced, I also have a spare one kicking about, or bits of one. Cavy looking ok there Robs, hopefully you get it back in time for a bit of summer cruising (That'll be 2 weeks this Year!). Mine is looking a b...

I thought that I would order a battery and fuel can from Euro Car Parts. So I click on an 063 battery (although an 075 would have been better but more expensive). And a fuel can. Enter the discount code on their front screen Message comes back "Some of your items are excluded from the discount...

Re: Vauxhall Senator
Been a while since I got some work done on this beast what with the weather being sooo poor this Year so far and my other competing priorities. I had managed to get a cut off section or sections from a place in Germany that seems to amongst other things, cut old opels up with stihl saws so I managed...

Re: M Plate 1.8LS Saloon
No dents to report, the hard plastic edge of the bin just slid down the bottom side of the door, looking at it closer it's just a scuff, and probably with some hard graft could maybe be polished out.
Cheers

Re: Why are interviewers so rude?
I remember when I came out of college / uni looking for work experience, even something that got me somewhere near to my sort of chosen field, at that time it was electrical/electronic engineering but being in Scotland they were few and far between and if by luck you did get an interview the intervi...

Re: M Plate 1.8LS Saloon
I promised myself in December, actually more like November, that I am not going to do any more outside work until at least March and I'm glad I did, or did not, as it seems like we've had either force 10 gales or sideways rain/sleet/snow with a day or two of respite inbetween since then. One of the ...

Spotted this, I know its a petrol but have you seen the price estimate? This example is the very base model with blanked clock, radio , and vinyl seats and floor covering. Plus there's no heated rear screen or wash wipe. https://www.mathewsons.co.uk/auction/lot/lot-303---1988-bedford-astra/?lot=212...

Re: My VERY RUSTY VW T25 Camper Van Project
My 1993 Cavalier has anti-roll bar drop links that fit in the same way - the rubber bush has a nylon or similar internal surface and it's just a force fit over the end of the ARB. I can confirm that it's a real struggle to force it into place - the Haynes manual recommends that you take the ARB com...

Re: My VERY RUSTY VW T25 Camper Van Project
That drop link looks like the one fitted to the earlier cavs, lord knows how you are supposed to fit those ones on to the bar without smashing it to pieces! Any progress this time of Year is better than nothing, even if it feels like 1 step forward and 10 back.

Re: Bedford Astravan MK2
That Phillips radio code sticker is certainly a blast from the past! Used to see them on just about every other car. Looks like things progressing nicely, you've certainly got more motivation to do things this time of Year than I have, think it's been about a Month or more since I even done anything...

Re: Merry Christmas you lovely lot.
I think it is partly because the number of cavs left is dropping, however I have noticed in general that forum use seems to be reducing, I'm guessing largely due to people using social media more and more. Lets hope they keep surviving as its an invaluable source of information, whereas on the like...

Re: My VERY RUSTY VW T25 Camper Van Project
As always a supposedly simple job turns into a nightmare; you end up spending more time on an ancilliary job rather than the original job you were working on! At least from now on you shouldn't have any issues with the arm and it's fixings. Looks like good progress and coming along nicely

Another wee parts haul there, always worth scooping up hard(er) to find parts when you can and funds allow. My mum was wondering if there was something up as she hadn't recieved any parcels for me for a while! I usually redirect them to folks place if I'm going to be out, it's easier just picking th...

I totally emphasise with you over the aches and pains. I find the older I get the harder it becomes to motivate yourself to work in the cold. Thanks for the link for the top nut tool, never knew it existed, I've always used a 4ft pair of Stilsons and a scaffold pipe, not the ideal tool as it tends ...

Re: M Plate 1.8LS Saloon
Whilst the strut is out, and for the cost of a bearing, it would be daft not to replace the hub bearing now. But then, it is a matter of where do you stop, replacing parts.? It is too easy to replace good parts when you do not need to. I had my struts bead blasted and powder coated. They came up al...

Re: M Plate 1.8LS Saloon
It's been a seriously busy couple of weeks, I've been trying to take advantage of the kind of ok weather to get on top of all the welding and time-gobbling prep before hand. I was wanting to get the bulkhead bit totally fixed and watertight before I done anything else, since I'm going away for a wee...

Hi Thomas I couldn't remember how I paid them, but I'm sure it was directly off their site and then had to use the German shipping address etc. I think I probably just assumed it would be easier using the shipping fulfillment but good to hear they ship to UK ok. I think German/EU ebay sellers try an...

Thomas I checked up my old emails, it is a crowd called mygermany I used for shipping. Achse site doesn't convert to English, so pretty hard to navig...

Re: My Little 1.8LSi
That looks very promising Andy, cheers! I think I'll ring them tomorrow. Though it's a lot of metal to ship. Nearly bought a faulty auto-box LSi with 11 months MoT and likely nascent rust issues, not too far away, the other night. Still expecting to weld this one meantime, at least as good as it wa...
