Re: TD Daily Project
A guy I know that used to be a valeter said black spray paint works wonders on faded carpets. Never tried it myself but might be worth a try on the underside to test it?

1.7td and alternative fuels?
Apparently biodiesel is easy to get hold of here in Cambridge so I thought I'd look into it. From what I can work out is if the engine is indirect injection then you should have no problems, but with direct injection you could end up with gummed up rings etc So 1stly is the izusu td engine direct or...

Re: Radiator fan override
When I did mine I was in a hurry so just cut the original wires for the relays coils and wired them up on a switch only. Risky in that the car now can't turn the fans on itself but as it turns out the fans don't need to be on if the cars moving at a constant speed without a trailer on the back. The ...

Trailer Teltail
Sorry if this is in the wrong section I've recently fitting a tow bar to my cav and I wired up the socket with the proper wiring vauxhall put under the plastic cover in the boot (all the trailer lights work as they should). I had hoped that in doing this rather than tapping into the wiring at the ba...

Re: TD Daily Project
Oh yeah, I was on the thrown at work when I replied to that so miss read it :P but still not a bad price non the less! Mines got the usual things, tweaked boost and fuel and not much else yet. It's getting a straight through zorst and a bigger front mount and I'm finally going to get around to remov...

Looks good! Can't believe you got it for that price, especially after he had a new clutch and cam belt etc put on it! You did well! And they tune very well too

Re: Radiator fan override
For mine anything over 75 is hot, I thick its a izusu thing because my frontera 2.8 also runs colder than 'normal' at around the 75 mark too. Cheers for those diagrams, from memory the switch in the rad has 3 wires so I'll have to investigate that. I was hoping there would be a relay for each speed ...

Radiator fan override
I'm going away with my caravan next weekend and when I used the cav to move the van home the other day it got abit hotter than I'd like Vauxhall in my experience always set the fans to turn on just as the engine is about to explode which somehow seems to be ok in normal driving but as I'll by draggi...

Re: not your usual electrical fault.
so therefore. is it possible to run a live from that pin, to all 3 bulbs on that side. and individually earth each on to chasis ?? That would sound like the best solution to me, you also know that if any other damage had been done it's getting replaced anyways. If you have a multi meter then check ...

Re: not your usual electrical fault.
You have a short in the wiring on that side. Do you have a towbar? Could be the socket has corroded and shorted out (fairly common) or a wire has chaffed somewhere and is shorting on the body work. To make sure you don't set fire to the car don't use your winkers were possible and when testing/fault...

Re: Towing Capacity?
I could tow a car of more or less any weight if it was blocking the road or otherwise causing a issue to other road users. But because I passed in 2007 I only have class b on my license so I can tow a trailer/caravan with a combined weight of no more than 3500kgs, and the MAM of the trailer has to b...

Re: Towing Capacity?
The other problem is that I remembered the unladen weight wrong, it's only 1135kgs so I'd need my b+e license because it's over my unladen weight so I'd be over weight on the car and my license

Re: Towing Capacity?
What you really want is a C20NE cav. Maximum towing capacity is 1350Kg braked. It won the caravan club's tow car of the year award like 4 times running. If only I could afford to run a green nozzle, but then I'd probably have a turbo 4x4 :P it be easier and probably cheaper to get a smaller van tho...

Re: Towing Capacity?
GVW is gross vehicle weight and GCW is gross combined weight not curb :P and from what you've said the 1.8 can tow 1210kgs, still not enough but more than the diesel (doesn't make sense to me that lol) bloody vauxhall sending the td's out so under tuned :( I towed a broken down corrola verso with it...

Re: Towing Capacity?
For a 1.7TD LS manual the maximum towing weight is 1000Kg for a trailer with brakes or 500Kg for a trailer without brakes. This is the info I wanted, but I didn't want the figures to be so small. So in short no my cav can't tow my caravan that could potentially weigh 1300kgs :( looks like I need to...

Re: Towing Capacity?
My unladen weight is 1360 iirc so would that mean if the car was empty I could tow 1330 kgs? I ask because my caravan weighs 1300 kgs fully loaded, which is still less than the car's unladen weight so I'm ok to tow it on my license but I don't want to get pulled by vosa for towing over the car's lim...

Towing Capacity?
Hello peeps...So I'm wondering what the towing capacity for my td is? Google on this occasion has turned up nothing as has a search on here :( My vin plate says "GVW 1690, GCW 2690" so would that be a towing capacity of just 1,000kg? This seems abit low for a car that's classed as a medium...

Yep I still have it lol. It has its mot Wednesday so we'll see how much longer it'll keep going for, want to get at least 1 more year out of it. It's done about 17k miles in the last 12months so it's done well.

Re: the td sleeper
Well yesterday after doing some routine welding on it I decided to fit my new rims that I've had since before Xmas. Doesn't really keep with the stock sleeper look but hay, my old tyres were getting low and these were looking sad in the garage lol http://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx184/DanMargasPh...

Re: fuel tank opps
Funnily enough a guy at work said something very close to that. Drilling the tank shouldn't put too much debris into the tank as the drill bit will pull most of it outwards so that looks like the best idea. Halfords (were I work) don't sell jb weld so here's hoping chemical metal will do the job :) ...
