Re: Rear wheel arches and sills rusting
Keep cracking on with it Ben. Pics? I'll grab some of the damaged areas tonight (There's quite a few!!!) Then as and when the work gets done, I'll update through the whole process in a different thread. It's a dear old experience, but at least it's not too rotten underneath, it's all visible rot! :)

I hung around until 1300, ate dinner (Half of) and left by 1340. So, I can only assume everyone forgothumbucker wrote:Sorry to hear of your misfortune.
So no one turned up to the meet then? Other than you? Or they appeared after you had to dash off?

Re: Rear wheel arches and sills rusting
£300 for both arches supplied, fitted and painted.
Plus a small patch on the sill below the passenger rear door. Should look mint!
(They're not bad at the moment, but I'm being preventitive here!!!)

I must say Marty, that looks really good. I quickly blew over it with a tin of plastic hammerite, just to put it on my car.

Well, how did it go?! Any pics :) I'm going to suggest an Xmas meet when we can (hopefully) get together with a bit of a bigger turnout. I already know of another couple of members who will be coming and I will be taking orders in advance of any service parts anyone wants me to pick up for them on ...

We'll meet around the front of the pub at the time specified. Otherwise, follow the string of lost Cavaliers!!!

Right, after a "Drive-by check", parking is FREE on Sundays along the road where The Tivoli is, however, it is a bit busy and we'll probably have to park apart. Of course, a photo oppurtinity is available 10 miles up the road at Sutton if anybody wants to go up there and have a laugh. Othe...

I'll be here on the 14th. I hope everyone else will be too!
If anybody wants a convoy etc (Not really going to be effective, or to meet at an M11/A14 Junction, I'd be happy to do that if you've got no sat nav!

Re: putting Vx Semi 10 40 in someone else diesel
the diesel is the old perkins but with a 1990s update to the design, so it does not use fully synthetic. 15 40 is recommended by the manufacturer and 10 40 used by those who know about running these engines. i just need to check any adverse effect of GM semi 10 40 meant for petrol engines going in ...

Autochoke
Hi guys, with MOT time looming after Christmas, my autochoke has decided to stick on constantly. The thermostat is shot and is being replaced by Vauxhall next Friday, but even when I run the car up to temperature, the autochoke wont disengage. I was wondering, is the Autochoke on the 16SV the same a...

Rear wheel arches and sills rusting
Upon inspection, I've got a little more than the usual crusty arches and am now looking to have both rear arches replaced and the last 6" of the sills.
I'm hoping as I've caught it early that this won't be too expensive. Does anybody have ideas as to cost?
Ben.

PM's sent to all previous attendees and interested parties of the last meeting. The address is 16 Chesterton Ro...

what time are looking at to meet ? ......... Sorry, an elementary discrepancy!!! 1200 Midday. This ensures we all get parked, can have dinner, a bitter shandy, smoke, chat etc and then get up to Sutton (About 10-11 miles away) for about 1330-1400ish. Re: Vectra c diesel - 1.9 vs 2.0
An Astra G with the 1.7 or 2.0 DTi unit would be a good buy over the CDTi range of later cars. It's worth remembering though, that Vauxhall put a CDTi badge on everything nowadays. I saw a MK1 Agila in Portugal with a CDTi badge, yet it's actually a 1.3TD from the Panda. The 1.3 and 1.6 CDTi is just...

East Anglia; Sunday 14 October Cambridge
Evening guys, I am thinking of 14 October @ The Tivoli, Chesterton Road, Cambridge. The Tivoli is a Wetherspoons Pub with two bars, one upstairs and one down. The upstairs bar has some really pleasant views over the River Cam and the food on Sunday is a good price (£6 for a Roast and £7.50 for a lar...

In all fairness, if 4 6ft+ Uniformed Security Officers started marching about putting slips under people's windscreens in Ramsey, I could see somebody getting shot.
