Re: Return to a Cavalier - Satin Red Diplomat.

If you are still stuck for a rear window motor, I am breaking a 95 CDX that has one - and a late type aircon system!

Re: Tax Exemption

Now a 40 year old rolling exemption! My 78 Dolomite Sprint becomes tax free in April 2019 so the first PFL Cavs will be tax free in April 2029. I should live so long! Actually I might, i'll only be 75 then!

Re: Where all my money goes!

I was lucky with the Toledo, it had been Ziebarted from new so wasn't too bad! Even so, I have now replaced both sills, fitted new GRP front wings and front panel (the O/C supplies these) and rebuilt both rear wheel arches plus NOS bootlid and a NOS passenger doorskin. My Sprint is in much worse sha...

Re: Where all my money goes!

Thanks Dave, it's a real hoot to drive, on track or street and upsets the hell out of the boy racers round here, though mostly they know better than to try it now!

Re: Where all my money goes!

Thanks for the flattering comment on the cornering stance, the blue Dolly Sprint behind me in the 2nd pic is flatter - but that is a full house classic touring car racer with over 220 brake on tap and all the works goodies, man is it quick!

Where all my money goes!

This is my 74 Triumph Toledo with 2.0 8v Carlton engine, Omega gearbox, Gaz coilovers, big vented disc conversion and much more, here being thrashed around Castle Coombe last April, guess where i'll be this April? http://i1181.photobucket.com/albums/x424/carledo1/TR140415%201426_zpszw9f4f1j.jpg http...

Re: Black Magic

Selling is a sore point with me ATM! 2 or 3 times in the last year or two, i've thought, it's not getting enough use, i'll flog it. then 2 things happen, a) nobody wants to pay a decent price for it and b) I start driving it again and fall in love with it again!

Re: Black Magic

Can't believe it's been over 4 years since i've been on here! Still have both my Cavs though the gold one has not been used for over a year. Black Magic is still running fine and now shows 148k! the body is showing a few signs of age though, the laquer is peeling in places , has been mopped to death...

Re: release bearing?

My own record for relacing a Cav clutch (not diesel or late cars) is 22 mins! even if it is a late one I can do them in just over 2 hours. Is the guy on mogadon or just trying to justify the silly price? Sounds to me like the pressure plate is getting past it, this is not a big problem but MAY cause...

XE Conrods

Evening all, I've posted a want ad on behalf of a fellow Dolomite owner who has Redtop power on R1 carbs, a real beast but he has had a recent setback when what appears to be oil pump failure caused the shells to spin in No1 conrod hence he is in need of a new (to him) set of rods! My question is th...

Re: My New Money Saver

My Cav cost £155 8 years ago and apart from normal running expenses, tyres, servicing, a timing belt, it has cost me £9 for an antiroll bar link and a chunk of fuel hose and thats it! Regardless of fuel economy I think thats pretty respectable! But you do seem to be having more than usual amounts of...

Nice tidy looking car that, Don't think a wheelarch repair panel will go that high but a dent repair will let you treat the little bit of rust around the arch so it'll only need painting once! Good save! Steve

Re: Fuel Ecconomy / Ticking Engine

Your tick isn't by any chance a small blow in the exhaust manifold gasket? they can sometimes produce similar noises. Either that or a failed hydraulic tappet, I've been running 2ltr 8v's for 10 years or more now and i've never had an injector you can hear tick at 40ft! Mostly you struggle to hear t...

Re: Extending aerial

I bought one of each mast type last year from Vauxhall, on my trade club card the chrome top one was £17 and the black top (roughly pfl era) one was £26 They are fiddly to fit but by far the biggest problem is getting the cap nut at the top undone, a few go easily most are very stiff and some defy a...
