The garage have found a split pipe and are in the process of replacing it at the moment.
Pending the pressure test I should be able to go home tonight, woot!
Thanks for all the help.

Re: Cold air and temperature gauge
Ill check my insurance policy (I really ought to know that already, but I only had the car for a couple of months and am selling it on in two weeks anyway!). I'm really not too savvy when it comes to finding stuff in the engine bay and I've got meetings this afternoon I cant get out of. Bugger bugge...

Cold air and temperature gauge
Was driving in to work this morning when quite suddenly the hot air from the blowers became icy cold and the temperature gauge on the dash started to slowly go up. Everytime I was stopped in traffic I had smoke/steam coming out from under the bonnet so ended up pulled over in a layby waiting for the...

Re: Remove glovebox
Thanks for all your help Robsey. Got this sorted yesterday. A good few hours of dismantling the car dollowed by much effing and jeffing resulted in my looking in muted disappointment at how p*** poor the illumination behind the heater assembly is :) Still, its better than no illumination and I got t...

Re: Dodgy Gearbox
Had another go at it today and I think I've found the linkage. Am I right in thinking the linkage is what connects to the gearbox? (identified by the fact that it has a diagram of the gears on it :)) If so, I'm not sure how I can get to it to perform these mods without removing several other things ...

Re: Remove glovebox
Oh dear....
I am trying to change the heater bulb, lol
The slider to choose air blowing up or down has broken (only moves in the middle) so I thought I'd remove the assembly and try to kill two birds with one stone

Re: Remove glovebox
Aha, I think I've already had those clips off then. I removed the cardboard panel in the footwell and found two handles behind the glovebox which I turned and it released the cardboard panel from the glovebox. So the trim I need to remove is above or below the compartment above the glovebox? Thanks ...

Thanks envoy
I've found the 2 behind the opening flap but the 2 behind the trim are eluding me. Do I need to pop he trim off of the compartment above the glove box to access them?
Also, will I find the clips under the trim as well?

Re: dash illumination?
Any idea where I can get one? I've spoken to various led suppliers and searched the net extensively. Best I can find is a website in Croatia that appears to sell them but I don't speak the language so can't work out how to buy!!

Hi,
I'm sure I'm missing something painfully obvious, but I'm really struggling to remove my glovebox. Can someone give me some pointers please?

Re: Dodgy Gearbox
Wow, I fail! Had a go yesterday and admittedly the light was failing, but I couldnt even find the linkage :( Tried downloading the haynes manual thats linked on this site but its missing chapters 6, 7 and 8. The chapter with the gear linkage in it is apparently 7 :D So I've bought one off ebay. As s...

Is that photo how to not to do with the linkage? Is there a "how to" for what you were suggesting above?Gaz wrote:the alignment wont have anything to do with it, its sloppy not, out of sync.

Re: dash illumination?
Interesting that you suggest replacing for a more powerful bulb because I have this exact problem. The illumination behind the heater controls has blown, driving at night is pretty much guesswork/gropework if I want to adjust the heating :) In addition, the illumination behind the speedo/rev counter...

Thanks for the response Gaz.

and want to get to grips with the mechanics underneath it all. Is the linkage something you think I could handle myself or should I take it to a garage?

Dodgy Gearbox
Hi all,
Its hard to describe this, but when I change gear it feels like Im moving the gear stick through porridge! Gear changes just arent "solid", if you get my drift?
Do I need to have the gearbox replaced? or is there a simple fix I can get a garage to do?
Thanks

Re: New to the forum (be gentle!)
So I avoided Kwik Fit and took it to a garage called "Selecta Tyres". Spoke to the guy on the phone and he said the the tracking and balancing could be a half hour job or it could be a couple of hours. 5 hours later and theyve only managed to finish the drivers side track rod end. Need to ...
