Re: DK Photography - Southern 14th meeting photos

Sorry we missed it. It looks you had a good day for it. Our old blue 1.6L is still going well (enough). MOT coming up soon. I changed employer at the beginning of April and now my life is a bit of a roller coaster, roll on July when things should settle down a bit. Hopefully we'll make it to the nex...

Re: Central locking (another one)

The last owner said it worked. Perhaps some corrosion or an age related broken wire? This car has a Piranha alarm fitted, simple thing with a concealed switch. Don't think it will affect central locking. Like you I still cant find any good gen on the IC, Kiekert have many patents, maybe this is a cu...

Re: Central locking (another one)

Cheers Robsey,

the last owner said it worked. So the original fuse must have been correct.

All I can think is that the original feed has been severed somehow.

Do you know how the battery feed is split between battery and fuse box. In the Haynes manual is just shows line 30, direct from battery.

Central locking (another one)

So, since we've owned the old L we have unlocked the doors manually from inside once the drivers door was open. Talking to the previous owner, he told me it had central locking. It definitely wasn't working. I trawled the net and this forum and read about dodgy conversions, dodgy wiring, dodgy motor...

Re: DK Photography - Southern 13th Meeting photos

Nice meeting you guys. Lucky with the weather too.

I liked Tony's GTE, very tidy and James' CDX was almost identical to the Dippy I bought new in 1993, different wheels.

Thanks for sharing the pictures Dave.

Stokes Bay Vehicle Rally 29th August

I know this is a bit late in the day and details are almost impossible to find but there's a classic car rally on Stokes Bay Field (by the sailing club, opposite the crazy golf and tennis courts) on Bank Holiday Monday, 29th August. Starts around 10AM. This event used to be really well supported but...

Re: SOUTHERN 13TH MEETING (take 2)

I might be able to come along in the morning on the 4th, what time do you usually meet?

I have to work in the afternoon.

The 25th could be okay too, although I'm expecting visitors from up North sometime over the weekend.

The 2nd might fit, depends on my birthday hangover.

Any update on club merch?

I could do with a window sticker or 2 in my Cav.

Re: Hello to all, new member, old car.

Thanks. Your bumpers look better than mine, I might have to come your way one day. I've had a couple of other rare cars, I just didn't know it at the time lol. The rarest was a 2 door, 1300 L, Ford Cortina Mk3, with the facelift dash. I don't think there were many made. Scrapped it when it was only ...

Re: A pillar

Mine also has this problem. I'm not looking at it too closely until after the MOT work has been done though.

Are repair panels available for the lower corner, or do they have to be fabricated?

Re: Hello to all, new member, old car.

I think that too, although I have some friends who do the classic car shows in the summer.

I'll be teaching him to drive as well (cue nervous Dad shouting a lot) now he can reach the pedals in the Corsa.

Hello to all, new member, old car.

So I finally cleared out the garage enough to fit a car in. For the first time in 15 years! Anyway it was my dream to find my original Calibra and restore it, but I think scrappage saw to that. Then I thought about tracking down the Diplomat that I bought new in 93, but that seems to have disappeare...

Re: what are the chances

What about a Vectra A roof skin?

Most German spec cars had just about everything as an option.

When I lived in Germany, hardly any Calibras had sunroofs, but they were standard in UK, maybe the same for the Cavs.
