Re: 2.0 16v
Everything seems pricey for the ecotec. Good sports exhaust and decent air filter would probably do, unless u want to spend a few hundred

Re: Smoked headlights help
I used hammerite as I was using it for something else at the time and it also worked! Wouldn't of been my first choice though

Re: leaky sunroof
The black plastic strips on each side of the inside of the sunroof have distorted but apart from that everything looks fine. Poured water into the front of it today and the drains are working perfectly, never checked the back ones though

leaky sunroof
I've noticed the inside of my cav very wet, inside of windows are soaking as well as passenger footwell. Seems to be dripping from left side of sunroof. Is this a common problem on the cav and is it easy to repair? Cars currently of the road so when it rains it takes a wile to dry out!

Re: Heavy steering after standing off-road for a while
Maybe a fluid change and a good drive would help it. Probably the cheapest thing to start with if nothing else!

It screws into the front of the sump, looks an easy enough job to be honest. Don't see any reason to take the sump off.

Re: 1995 2.0 16V Cav MIL and causes
Yip siemens is good. If the wire is exposed it will play up in the rain with water splashing round it. As said earlier lambda sensors cause poor running/idling aswell and don't always give the rite code

Re: 1995 2.0 16V Cav MIL and causes
Hows it revving now? Is it going past 4500rpm? I got a genuine crank sensor for £35. Wouldn't be getting one from Vauxhall

Yip definitely worth cleaning icv out, it doesn't cost anything! At least you could rule it out if nothing else.

Re: 1995 2.0 16V Cav MIL and causes
When I fitted a cheap crankshaft sensor in my ecotec it used to keep turning over afteri switched ignition off. It would never start though, just popped and banged a bit

Re: 1995 2.0 16V Cav MIL and causes
The 4500 rpm limit and popping noise is nearly always crank shaft sensor, although it could be camshaft sensor or the wiring to it aswell. Mine seems to play up the hotter the engine gets. Don't buy cheap crankshaft sensors, I tried 3 and car wouldn't even start!

Re: cooling fan
Its the high one that comes on, I'd never heard the low one come in ever, it was always the high speed at 95c. Going to buy a new sensor for the gauge as its pretty cheap and probably get a cts along with it just to be sure there in working order

Re: cooling fan
Unfortunately a new fuse hasn't fixed my problem, let it get to 100 yesterday and still no fan operating. The fan swtch was nearly 20 quid so I'm hoping it isn't faulty. Fast and slow fan speed works fine with piece of wire bridging the connections though

Re: cooling fan
After connecting the pins for the fan switch I discovered the reason for no low speed fan was the 30a fuse had blown! I'm almost certain I checked it before and it was fine (or so I thought). So hopefully when I let the engine get up to running temperature tomorrow all will be back to normal thanks ...

Re: cooling fan
I suppose it must be safe enough to be running at 100c or slightly higher or Vauxhall wouldn't of made switches that have 110-105 stamped on them. Although I would feel better if it stayed below the 100 mark!

Re: cooling fan
Yip it has 95-90 and 105-100 on it, it just wont come on at the lower temp. Maybe needs looked at by someone with a bit more electrical knowledge than me as components are brand new.

Cant see there being much else involved, it'll switch on at 105 but that seems a bit hot especially when it always worked at 95

cooling fan
I no I've posted about this last year but since my last post I've fitted a new radiator, fan switch and 2 speed resistor. The problem I still have is that the fan won't come on at 94 odd degrees like it used to. Is there anything else that could be causing this problem? Fan itself definitely work's ...

I got mine a couple of years ago from them, they don't seem to have them in stock these days. Getting hard to find I suppose. Cant even remember what they cost, definitely under a tenner per switch though.
