Re: Good Old Fashioned Pub Grub

Couldn't agree more Rob. It's the same up here in the north east of Scotland and you have to travel some way out of the city to get somewhere that offers a more traditional British menu. Luckily there is a nice pub in the country about 6 miles from us where you can get some "classics" such...

Thanks Rob,
That narrows down the parts search nicely.
I suspect that the number on the old bushes will be difficult to read as they're falling apart.
All the best

C18NZ - Help on ID of rear stabaliser bushes

Morning all,

Can anybody explain the difference (if any) of the 4 different idents of the rear stabiliser bushes shown here:

(PNC 5,6,7,8)

I want to source some for my C18NZ

Cheers

Re: Prison Break Out at Robsey Gardens..Sad Update.

Sorry to hear this Rob,

Very sad news, you have my sympathies.
I grew up with dogs in my family and it's never easy when they reach the end of their lives as you become so attached to them.

Take care,

Thanks Rob,

Yes an odd one, but your explanation sounds better than mine :thumb

If it starts happening again I have got a new coil and ignition module which I can swap in.

Many thanks

C18NZ (Auto) - Erratic rev counter

Well, just over one month since my C18NZ auto passed its MOT and got back on the road :) I've done almost 600 miles since then "running in" and getting to know the car again and a couple of minor issues needed addressed but it's now driving very well. One issue that I did have was that the...

Re: C18NZ (Auto) - Ignition problems

Nice pic John, looks good in the flesh there. Pretty common, things like this when you put some miles on a car that has maybe been lying about for a while. The connectors would have furred up and once they start trying to pass current it gives up the ghost. At least you've got the issue fixed quite...

C18NZ (Auto) - Ignition problems

I thought I'd share a funny issue that I encountered today when trying to start my C18NZ Auto. It is a bit of "knowledge" that probably doesn't apply to long time active cars, but like in my case cars that have been "dormant" for an extended period. As part of my "running in...

Re: C18NZ (auto) - gearbox oil drain plug

Evening all, Had a busy day working on the cav (rear shocks and return oil cooler pipe and hose), and yes, I've located the gearbox sump plug!! (but I forgot to take a photo of it :( ) I'll take one next time I'm under the car. I've decided to "replace" the transmission fluid incrementally...

Re: C18NZ (auto) - gearbox oil drain plug

With the Aisin auto box in my Cav V6 I could never be sure which of the hex heads at its base was the drain plug - or even if there was one. It also has no sump plate that can be removed. So I resorted to sucking the fluid out via the filler tube using a PELA oil removal unit. These are much used b...

Some gearboxes didn't have a drain plug. and needed the sump plate removed.

C18NZ (auto) - gearbox oil drain plug

Afternoon,

Could someone confirm for me that the highlighted nut in the photo below is the oil drain plug for the automatic gearbox on a C18NZ?

Re: C18NZ (Auto) Restoration

Congratulations on the pass. Brilliant news. That is a lovely colour. Fast idle - sticky throttle cable perhaps. Idle speed should be about 880 rpm +/- 80 rpm. Is the idle speed higher when in drive? Otherwise, just check the condition of the vacuum pipes and rubber elbows between the air-filter ho...

Well, after a fairly long drawn out MOT (the cav went in last Tuesday), it has finally passed the MOT for the first time since 2004 :D A new set of tyres and a new B&M type approved cat is what it took to get it over the line. Happy days. After taxing it (ouch!), I've been "out and about&qu...

Re: C18NZ (Auto) Restoration

Hi John, I have found your car in EPC. Manufactured at Luton in 1993. I have checked all 34 pages of the cooling system.Strangely it pulls up a switch assembly for C25XE as the only compatible part. Part number is 90 339 414 Switch Assembly, Water Temperature (Ident WH). For info, it looks like you...

Re: C18NZ (Auto) Restoration

Hi John, I will have a look when I get in from the unit. (Early hours of the morning). I know my manual 1994 C18NZ had a simple two-pin thermo-switch. Because of the heat generated by the torque converter, it would not surprise me if you have two-stage thermoswitch. I will put your reg through my E...
