Re: 1.8NZ possible overheating ?

Spent yesterday afternoon flushing the cooling system through as advised. Pleased to report that this has made a massive improvement! Seams like it close to being about right again which is a relief being stuck on the M42 this morning. Will keep an eye on it over the next few weeks and if needs be w...

Re: James' 2.0 8v Diplomat

Hi James. Glad you got the Damage sorted, these Cavs can take a hit! With the paint issues maybe it's worth seeing them and having a polite word. Point out about the problems you mentioned and hopefully they will be decent enough to try and put it right. They may fob you off and I've been there myse...

Re: My 56k 1.8 cavalier L. Phase 1 model.

Seam's a shame if you have to sell it, hopefully it will find a good home as L spec Cavs used to be everywhere as a kid then they all disappeared.

All the best with the house offer though. :)

Thank's everyone for the advice and cheers ilovedmymantas. It not doing bad for a car that only cost me £250 9 years ago. :) Am looking forward to seeing 200,000 on the clock even thought the engine done more of course. Never did I think that I would still have my Cavalier 9 years later, as I've had...

1.8NZ possible overheating ?

Had a bit of a ongoing issue and not sure what my next move is, so hoping somebody can point me in the right direction! My Cavalier since I've started driving it daily the last few months has developed a habbit of getting hot when stuck in traffic. When driving along it seams fine temperture wise. S...

Re: Doors Sill rubbers? Should they stay or should they go?

Thank's for the advice much appreciated. As you say these rubbers can be a rust trap. Have refitted the rubbers but they don't seam to be clipping back on well to the pegs. Tried pinching the metal channel to get a better fit, but noticed today they were coming loose again. Think the pegs being grou...

Not sure on what size etc you require on the master key, but you can buy a kit off ebay [ battery and bulb] for around £5 all in from memory.

Plenty of suppliers on ebay.
Thanks for the tip. Just been talking to my brother and he might be able to source some top mounts through his work place.[ Delph ] So that might hopefully save us a few quid if not I'll look at the Febi etc options.

Re: Recommended Shock Absorbers on a budget?

Thanks Robsey, James McGrath and MK3alan for the advice I'd love to say sod it and spend £300-£400 on a full suspension kit, but that seam's along way off being possible anytime soon as I'm struggling as it is to raise the cash for some part paintwork and that needs doing first after all the welding...

Re: Front Door and Rear Speakers recommended replacements?

I've replaced mine with Pioneer Twin Cone in the front doors and rear shelf. Rears are TS-G1731i (17cm), and are a direct swap for the originals. Can't remember what the fronts are, but they needed adaptor rings to fit. Both pairs came in at about £50, with the adaptors. They won't blow your ears o...

Recommended Shock Absorbers on a budget?

Hi, The front shocks on my Cav resemble a old Cadillac i.e bit floaty after 220,000 miles! I want to keep the car at the standard hight but am unsure about what makes or if Gas or Oil filled is better? On a budget as I'll have to factor in labour costs too for farming it out etc, any recommended bra...

Front Door and Rear Speakers recommended replacements?

Hi, My front and rear factory speakers are getting a bit past there best after 23 years! I want some affordable i.e sub £50-£100 max replacements that fit the factory holes and spaces on my Cav so I can improve the music quality while driving etc. Have been told previously that Used speakers from a ...

Doors Sill rubbers? Should they stay or should they go?

Hi everyone, Looking for a bit of advice regarding the rubber seals that are fitted along the sills inside the door shuts. My Cavalier had it passenger sill replaced years ago but the little pegs that they clip onto were slightly ground down as the sill was joined just below them. The trim fits but ...

Thanks both for the advice. :) I'll have a look at stripping the wheel arch carpets out of the way etc hopefully this week once I can empty the boot of all the various bits and bobs that are currently in the way! I'll see then if the Rustproofing cans are suitable for the task ahead. If not looks li...

Rustproofing Cavalier inner rear wheel arches?

Hi all, My Cavalier needs the rear arches rustproofing from inside the boot compartment after being repaired, as you can't access the inner sections due to the way they have been boxed in to paint them either. I really not keen on drilling holes into my Cav but looks as though I'll have no choice. A...

Great buy James can't think of a better home for it. Was watching this one on ebay myself but hadn't the funds or I would have been after it myself.

Got to say a Cavalier CDX in metalic black has to be one of my favourite spec Cavs too.

Great to see more progress on this, think those areas you repaired so far are all the same as what needs welding on mine at some point or another! Well done on saving it rather than breaking it up. Far too many Cavs have gone that way for alot less.

Look forward to seeing the updates. :)

I really must get mine sorted as it's been off the road for 10 months now, been far too long already.
