Re: Fault code 24
Very possible with the leak of water into the boot, and driver's door seal being knackered which on a frosty night will cause the alarm LED to blink rapidly which at a guess will be one of the ultrasonic Sensors getting damp too Just one other thing, can the car live without this speed sensor?, if a...

Fault code 24
My cavalier seems to have developed a new fault where the engine will intermittently lose power under load briefly before resuming normal running , it has also when idling reduced engine speed causing it to run very lumpy for around 30 secs to 1 min before idling normally again , if i pressed the th...

Re: Replacing front pipe and cat
The SAI is defunct if the exhaust gasket is blanking it off, Plus there is no pathway into the exhaust output from the manifold just a blank chamber, So unless the gasket isn't acting as a blanker, and there is no extra holes or ports on the head the SAI does nothing, It maybe why the SAI pump fails...

Re: Replacing front pipe and cat
Well my limited understanding of how the secondary air pump and system is it only works during a cold start runs for around 2 mins then stops (pump) and if the chambers in the manifold are blanked off, (no exhaust gases are emitted what is warm air? But it would create a vacuum as it would also be a...

Re: Replacing front pipe and cat
Thanks for finding out what it is called, and as its name suggests it connects to the secondary air pump after some diaphragm type thing that has vacuum pipes and sensors on it I now have a 2nd hand Exhaust manifold The 4 flange boltholes are serviceable threads intact but will need the threads clea...

Re: Replacing front pipe and cat
I see two more bolts to snap, that hold it in, If i have to go down the route of replacing the manifold , And on the picture of a new non Vauxhall new manifold the gasket that it ships with has the holes blanked off which makes you wonder does it do anything useful? if no exhaust gasses are being re...

Re: Replacing front pipe and cat
Thanks for the quick reply, I'm not overly fussed about MOT emissions I can get around that, least of my worries tbh , this pic though from the opel couterpart shows what i refere to https://external-content.duckduckgo.com/iu/?u=http%3A%2F%2Fimg.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fv236%2Fduff323%2FPicture531...

Re: Window regulator
I have found the guides online just over £5 each So it maybe a case of repairing it, instead of a new /replacement regulator the correct part number for the regulator without the motor is 90487557 for my car based on the chassis number

Re: 20.16V CAV Fuel pipe leak
Is it the pipe and not the sender top? the sender pipes are well known for rusting Its where the Rubber pipe from the sender joins the metal pipe that runs most of the length of the floor pan to another rubber pipe (short piece) then back onto metal up into the engine bay so i will replace from the...

20.16V CAV Fuel pipe leak
I just noticed that one of the fuel pipes under the car is leaking where the rubber hose from the sender unit (front of tank) meets the solid steel (corroded ) pipe Is this the fuel return (low pressure) pipe? Re: Water in the boot...
I too found a leak in the boot cause of Condensation and ice on inside of windscreen in winter , for me it was a process of elimination at 1st i thought it was the boot floor (sides behind wheel arches ) or wheel arches , found the underneath rusts and thin, so bogged the underneath after getting th...

Re: 1995 2.0 16V Cav MIL and causes
Just a quick update , i replaced the Cam sensor , MIL light no longer illuminates on starting, I also replaced the ICV , and the breath pipe from the head to the air intake pipe just before the throttle body, Idles fine as in a consistent rpm , But still diesels when warming up and when hot, unless ...

I have used a product called MMC pro, for clearing paths and driveways, but it works on the cavi too, you dilute it with water , no damage to the paintwork or plastic /rubber trim ect

Re: car revs too high on idle
Mine sometimes when the engine is warm but not hot enough for the fan to kick in, when driving the idle speed will increase to 1000-1300rpm until the car stops rolling, which can be a pain if in slow moving traffic, haven't a clue what that could be, ???

Re: Heater Stopped Working
That has lasted well, The bearings threatening to seize up or cause the fuse to blow, on a cold /freezing day is the time you depend on the heather working that and when it's raining, I may check the scuttle for leaks as I get the condensation issue in the winter months, though it could be down to a...

Re: Heater Stopped Working
Not seeing any balance clips on the fan blades ??? this motor is out of a calibra and is the same as the cav one, maybe they no longer put these clips on them? As for lubricating the bearings which look like they are sealed, My mate reckons that once they are squealing oil won't cure them because th...

Re: Heater Stopped Working
My Blower motor on my cav is squealing intermittently, I have sourced a 2nd hand motor (working) What is involved in removing and installing it, I have had a quick look under that plastic cover on the bulkhead, the motor looks to be secured by a bracket 2x self-tapping screws to the body of the car,...

Re: 1995 2.0 16V Cav MIL and causes
Ok, got it on the Solus plus, scan tool, and it was giving a CAM sensor fault, & that is the only code listed, no crank sensor speed incorrect, this time, & my mate says that the cam sensor could be causing the run on, which only now seems to happen when the engine is warming up, but not at ...

Re: 1995 2.0 16V Cav MIL and causes
Well, the guy who will be doing it, a time served mechanic has his doubts, about it coming out without stripping the threads with it, hence why he said you had better get yourself a new front pipe as well as a new sensor if it is that sensor, he ain't convinced, (he doesn't have oxy/ actet, but does...

Re: 1995 2.0 16V Cav MIL and causes
Well, the M.O.T emissions test it flew through it, although that i don't think would be conclusive, the run on the issue was occurring before i had the Head gasket and timing belt kit & w/pump replaced, the spark plugs where ok back then (even though the cam cover gasket had failed and the plug ...
