He knew you.. Was a really nice bloke. Apparently he'd already driven past in a Corsa, and when he got home, decided to give his Esprit a quick blast up the road to see us. He'd had Mk2 Astra SRi and Cavs himself too..

Dippy will be back for the next one.. Hopefully this weekend some re-education will take place, and she won't see engine oil as a disposable commodity any more.

Re: Engine idle surging when stationary

Yep, the connector on the metal tab is the crank position sensor. The sensor itself is in the Front of the block, left side when you look at it. Was a hard job on the GTE, because of the power steering pump. On the Dippy, it looks near impossible, behind the PS pump and AC compressor. If you have an...

As the Cavalier and Calibra were essentially the same car, I'd think that is your best bet for a compatible match.

This wasn't on GPS though it was vauxhall car parts.
I've had a similar experience with VCP. GPS are really good, Janet, in particular is really helpful.

Re: James' 1995 Manual CDX V6 Saloon

Agreed - that is an alternator cooling fan. If you have had a C20NE engine, then you will have a vent valve that looks just like yours towards the middle on the inlet side (back of) the camshaft housing. Thankyou! I'd always wondered what that was on mine! I knew it must have been something environ...

Re: Return to a Cavalier - Satin Red Diplomat.

If you delve down into the passenger footwell, on the side of the centre console, there is a small cover, held on by one screw, that, when removed allows access to the feed and return to the matrix. Have a look behind there and you'll see the two Ally pipes clamped in to the side of the matrix.. Her...

You'll need four. Googling the part number throws up pictures of the right little things.

Just before I sell you down completely the wrong road.. The V6 doesn't run different parts, does it? All my experience is on a 2.0.

Re: James' 1995 Manual CDX V6 Saloon

The choice is getting narrower, I've had some decent stuff from Delphi, and a bit of a nightmare with Delpi Wishbone bushes for the Astra (two garages have tried and failed to pull or push them in). Personally, I'd just throw a pair of complete wishbones on. If the balljoints are old and getting tir...

Re: James' 1995 Manual CDX V6 Saloon

Bulbs and headlamps are easy tasks..
Battery insecure? Hmm, has it lost the clamp?
Radius Arm Dust cover.. In English, I guess is the lower balljoint. Two options there then, either a new lower arm or repalce the balljoint. Not too hard.

As you say, all niggly..

They certainly do Dazzle.. This one seems to be constant. Not a great deal happenned with the problem child recently.. I had rather a large 'sense of humour failure' with it. A couple of weeks back, I noticed that the passenger carpet was wet once again. Mopping it with a white rag, it was pink wate...

Btw.. I recall someome better versed with Vaux than me mentioning that central locking will stop responding if you keep working it. Saves overheating and knackering the solenoids..

Re: Boot Lock

Is it a saloon?

Saloons break the wiring loom around the hinge area, which stops the boot lock working on the central locking system.. Pull the loom down and have a look, when I bought mine virtually nothing on the bootlid worked. It had broken near enough all the wires..

Mine (C20NE like yours) failed to rev over 4.5k (not just under load though), tracked it eventually to a blocked CAT.

Just a bit of mucking around with that cars today, between friends coming over etc.. Late afternoon, I had a little play with the 'spare' SC303 radio from last years Billing, seeing if it would work in the GTE, no go. By chance, I stuck the dead SC804 from the Cav in, and it duely sprung into life! ...

The Cavalier kicks once more... Yesterday evening I swapped the water pipe. Because I'd put it back with the jubilees facing the right way, I managed to do the job in about 40 minutes.. Winner.. After refilling it, I started it up to check for leaks and make sure all was well.. Sniff.. sniff.. Petro...
