Re: Radio bypasses ignition

If the ignition is not on, I can still turn the radio on via the power button, but if it's off it will automatically turn on when I turn the ignition on, and then I turn the ignition off the radio will turn off.

Re: Radio bypasses ignition

Well, a while ago I bought another '95 Vectra A (a crashed one) for the parts, and, unlike mine it has the factory radio and speakers. The radio turns on whenever you press the button on it, but it also turns on and off through the ignition, and I want mine to do that too.

Radio bypasses ignition

Hi guys! Since I've got my family/s Vectra A 4 years ago the aftermarket Sony radio has nothing to do with the ignition, if i turn the ignition off it doesn't turn off and I have to turn it on manually all the time and it's quite annoying at times... I'm not very good at electrics so I thought that ...

I knew about those and what they did but I didn't mess with them, i didn't want to make the bonnet not open anymore. I'll give it a try.

Bonnet release cable

Hi guys, I have a little inconvenience with my Vectra A, I think it's because of the bonnet cable. Every time I open the bonnet I have to really pull that handle quite hard to pop the bonnet up, and I thought maybe there's a way to adjust the cable. Also, when I close the bonnet, I have to slam it s...

Re: My work horse

I have changed the cover gasket about a year ago, still leaking. We've also got a new clutch kit installed a few months ago as the old one was worn out, though now it makes a weird rattle noise when the car is driven at a slow speed or sometimes when the engine is idling. I really want to get that s...

Re: Right turn signal problem

That's actually a feature of the car that a lot of cars I presume have. My family used to have a crappy 2001 Dacia a few years ago, and every time one of the blinker bulbs wasn't working (which was quite a few times, haha) when you would turn the blinkers on the side with the defective connection/bu...

Fitting electronically adjustable headlights

Hi guys, my Vectra A has mechanically adjustable headlights from the factory, which means there's no knob on the dashboard to adjust the height of the headlights, there's just hinges on the back of the headlights themselves. When I took one of the headlights off a while ago I noticed that there's ca...

Re: Roof rattling

I've sent my roof lining out for reupholstering today, meanwhile I glued the metal bars to the roof, and now it doesn't rattle anymore! Thanks everyone for your advice, I can't wait to get the roof lining back on the car and see how it will look.

Re: door card vinyl lifting on armrest

That's a pretty common problem with Cavs nowadays, most of them I've seen have it. The vinyl on the driver's side door has actually shattered. As above, I think the easiest way would be to find a scrapper and get a replacement door panel.

I think you can try stretching it by using a hair dryer.

Re: Roof Lining coming orf!

I kind of had the same problem even though my roof lining has been redone in the past (rather poorly though). the roof lining itself is only one piece, as said above. There are also places where you can get it refurbished. I don't know exactly where, since I'm not from the UK.

Re: Interior light

I've found out what the problem is. The metal connectors of the dip switches are kind of corroded and they don't ground properly with the metal, so I might need some WD-40, or to replace them altogether.

Re: Interior light

Are there separate connectors on the lamp itself that go to the doors, or is there just one for both the doors and light switch? I'm thinking of taking the lamp out and checking the connections.

Re: Tweeter fitment

The front door speakers in my Vectra A (Cavalier) have been replaced with a pair of really cheap speakers made by a company called "BlueTech" which I've never heard off. They sound OK but they don't have much bass, that's why I also want to get a pair of MTX's in the back, since one of the...

I'm thinking of fitting some crossovers for the front speakers on my Cav, so that the door speakers will play the mids and bass and the tweeters just the highs. Pretty sure that would improve sound quality.

My work horse

Here's my family's Opel Vectra A (Cavalier's name outride the UK). I thought I'd show it to you guys. It's the car I'll be driving in September when I turn 18 and get my driving license. The car is a 1995 Opel Vectra A Saloon GL (equivalent of Cavalier GLS spec), with the 1.7 TD engine by Isuzu. Sin...

Re: Roof rattling

Haven't done anything about it just yet. I was going to remove the head lining and fix it, but I'm waiting to save some money to fix/change the whole interior, including the head lining, so I won't have to remove it twice. I'll keep you guys updated. Now, in the summer time, the car only rattles in ...

Thanks. The switches actually work, at least the driver one. For example when I leave the headlights on and open the door the buzzer starts ringing.
