Re: Coolant level light on - I'm about to give up
Head and engine were all checked, skimmed, pressure tested etc as and where needed. I'm not losing any fluids and the wires have been insulated with tape..I have checked them again today in case it had split or come off. Yes the gauge is reading maximum until I start moving again (only goes right up...

Re: Coolant level light on - I'm about to give up
Cheers
The temperature gauge goes right up and the heater starts blowing hotter than normal to the point where it's unbearable
I've had no steam coming from anywhere to suggest overheating
Head gasket was replaced and head skimmed in February if that would affect it any way

Coolant level light on - I'm about to give up
My coolant level light has decided to come on and my car gets hot (on the temperature gauge) quickly so I drive round with the heater set to hot all the time....However, the coolant level sensor has been disconnected for months so what would cause this? I'm presuming the sensor is on the top of the ...

Well the camshaft sensor has been replaced and still got light on but no other faults were showing
Also the exhaust note seems raspy as if it's blowing
I'm stumped

Re: HELP..Engine light on
I can only assume that the old 10 pin KWP diagnostics is too old and primitive for any standard diagnostic tool. Only useful tool would be Tech1. Tech 2 is too new, and OpCom / Vauxcom is only able to read certain ECU's. And then only with the latest software. The paperclip test is quick and simple...

Re: Heater control illumination
I think I may just put the torch in the car or leave the heater controls set to hot.
I was hoping it was an easier job than that

Heater control illumination
My heater controls lack illumination so I presume that the bulbs have packed up.
Is this an easy fix or is it a pain in the arse to do?
Also is there anything else that could stop it lighting up ?
All other switches, knows and dials light up as they should.
Many thanks in advance

Re: I'm back in a Cav
Nice one been looking forward for an update on this one nice find by the way I bought mine for £600 with 45K miles on the clock. Cheers. Mine has cost me that now. I thought I was getting an absolute bargain when I knocked him down to the purchase price. Still, I'm happy with what I have for 650......

Ewww!! Could get messy - best get some protective seat covers. Unless she is good at upholstery cleaning. Soon find out if she is a quick learner - ha ha. Hahaha! She's a good drunk to be fair and so are her mates. 3 years of playing taxi and no accidents. Lucky sod doesn't even suffer hangovers.

Re: I'm back in a Cav
Good news on the head. Lucky the belt didn't fail in service, otherwise it would have needed a replacement engine. Hopefully you'll be doing what you should be doing in the Cav by the weekend. That is - getting some cruising done. I'm just grateful it will be sorted by the weekend as it's my daught...

Re: I'm back in a Cav
Phone call from mechanic confirms it's NOT bad news.
No cracks and head is only slightly warped so all is good
In a way it's done me a favour as the timing belt crumbled when he took it off so new timing belt kit is going on as well as a manifold gasket.
