Re: Cavalier For Sale

Thanks for your reply, I'm sure in doing a WIP I would build up a few posts, so I shall give that a go.
My Cavalier is a 1.8i GLS AUTO Saloon, and have found out that's it's one of only a few left with that exact spec.

Re: Cavalier For Sale

I'm not sure how quickly I can get to 50 posts, as although I have a Cavalier I'm not able to offer mechanical advice on the forum. (For maintenance a friend helps me out.) The cavalier I own has got to the point where it needs a lot of work which I'm not able to get done, and although I will be sad...

Re: Possible head gasket failure?

The thermostat was replaced at 161,000 miles.
I will have the above points checked and will see where I go from there.
Thanks to all that has offered me help and advice, is much appreciated.

Re: Possible head gasket failure?

I will investigate the points above and perhaps it could shed some light on what is going on. The car has always got hot fairly quick in recent years, but recently has been really bad, but I do have a manual switch fitted that I can use to stop it getting dangerously hot. And is only recently it sta...

Re: Possible head gasket failure?

The cam cover gasket has always been fitted with care whenever it needs doing, I know not to overtighten it it would damage the cork, is always cleaned around the time of changing it, but will check the breather hoses as is possible they could be the originals. As far as I am aware the throttle body...

Profile Picture

Can anyone help me with my profile picture, as getting it right seems to be difficult, as it says the file should not be larger than 20 pixels wide or something like that, but as you can see it doesnt come up properly, I'm using Paint and Microsoft Picture Manager but both seems to end up making the...

Possible head gasket failure?

I've had a bit of trouble with my cavalier recently, (1.8i GLS AUTO), whenever the engine has got up to normal running temperature it would often cut out (anything below 1000rpm and it could happen) , and I would also have difficultly in starting the car when it is warm, I'm waiting anything from 1 ...

Cavalier For Sale

I'm relatively new to this site so am not completely familiar with everything, and was wondering if there is a section where I can post an advert for my Cavalier, although I will sad to part with it the time has now come to pass it on to someone else as there is work required to keep it on the road,...

Re: Engine cuts out when idle.

Its a problem that came up quickly, it didn't build up over time. Sometimes there is a problem when the engine is warm, after driving somewhere for example, and when I return, say after 20 minutes and I try and start it, it won't start, I may have to wait 10 minutes or so, if I hold the key on longe...

Engine cuts out when idle.

I have a Mk 3 1.8i GLS Auto Cavalier, the car drives really smooth even after covering 161,000 miles, but whenever the car is idle is is very juddery and shakes about a lot, if put into neutral it is better but not perfect. But sometimes when I'm reversing into the drive, and the steering is on full...
