Re: Bedford Astravan MK2

Looking at it again this morning now the epoxy has had time to set it is slightly wavey in the one place, but its more a case of just needing to perfect the filler edge on the seam. Filling has got to be the worst job ever invented.

Re: The Wife's Vectra-C - The other battle wagon

The one on my jag was only a few months old and a Bosch, yet it still suffered total failure about 2months after the gearbox started to play up. As soon as it was replaced all issues went away.

Re: The Wife's Vectra-C - The other battle wagon

Ive found with both my Volvo and Jag, a battery that was starting to fail caused all sort of gripes, with the jag it caused the gearbox to go into limp mode yet still started ok, and with the Volvo the keyless start was a lot less responsive. In both cases a new battery cured all the issues.

Re: Bedford Astravan MK2

I'm really going to try and curb the spending, now. Hopefully I will resist the temptation at least for a while, to buy anymore parts, but I want the van to look as close to new as I can. The photos to be fair do make the quarters look a bit better, than in the flesh, however the lad I work with says ...

Re: The Wife's Vectra-C - The other battle wagon

It never ceases to amaze me when it comes to electrics effecting cars. I dont think id of ever found the wash wipe relay being the issue though, as it just doesn't make sense. Lets hope this is the end of problems with the Vectra as you've spent so much on it recently.

Re: Bedford Astravan MK2

I nearly forgot, the other day I turned up a pair of New Old Stock headlights, not cheap but uptill now these were the only lights on the Van that I hadn't managed to source a new set.

Re: Bedford Astravan MK2

Despite trying my best to avoid spending I've recently picked up a few more items for the project. The first was a set of 8 original wheel trims incase I ever break or lose the ones I've already got. https://i.postimg.cc/tJHhPCX4/20240505-080729.jpg They will need refurbishing but have long been obs...

I still wasn't happy with the pattern wing so have now spliced the bottom of it in to the remains of the genuine wing.

The alignment on the drivers door was still not 100 percent so have spent more time adjusting it.

Re: Bedford Astravan MK2

I've spent the last couple of weeks guide coating then flattening down the shell. I'm still not totally happy with the rear edges of the quarter panels. They are getting there but will probably be a few more sessions until they are totally sorted. https://i.postimg.cc/ZRBTL7vn/20240505-100852.jpg ht...

Re: Why are interviewers so rude?

I totally agree with Robsey, where I used to go to school, they've just spent a fortune installing non gender specfic toilets?!? Surely this money could of been better spent in other areas? In reference to Envoy Cdx, the job offer has been received via email( I guess this is the modern equivalent of...

We get this happen quite often at my work, for some reason on about half the satnavs the postcode takes them to another industrial estate about 3 miles away in a different village yet the carriers still deliver it there and unfortunately at the unit that has the same number as our a load of non Engl...

Re: Why are interviewers so rude?

Well done to her. I think in general it depends on your skill set and work area. If you are good at your job and in a defined area then there is usually always work out there, As I said before I wish people would show where all these jobs are. My wife has plenty of skills and qualifications, until ...

For the last 3 tests my Cav has always failed the emissions on the first run, but after a rev up and letting the fans kick in its always then had a low reading on the second run.

Re: Why are interviewers so rude?

I really hope they don't withdraw their job offer as we've had to already hand her notice in, in order to start once the new job wants her too.
Sometimes though you have to take risks, and it means an end to Weekend and 11pm working for lets not forget minimum wage.

Re: Why are interviewers so rude?

Finally today after just about giving up all hope my wife accepted a job offer, ok the hours are a bit less than she was hoping for, but they are going to put her through a new qualification related to the field she's working in, plus they are paying the living wage, rather than the minimum or less ...

Re: Good Old Fashioned Pub Grub

Couldn't agree more with you, the traditional pubs from the the 80s and 90s seem to be long gone. Whats so wrong with having a pint and proper burger and chips?
About the only good thing from modern pubs is the lack if smog from people smoking.

Ive had quite a few panels from MM opel parts, always arrive promptly and well packed. They usually seem to be genuine GM aswell. The owner also speaks very good English.

Re: Insurance

Funnily enough I just had the renewal come through for my Cav and it was about £130 with the existing company, havent tried the comparison sites yet. Sure it was about £110 last year. My volvo has actually gone down, I'm sure its around £260 now for me and the missus.

Re: The Wife's Vectra-C - The other battle wagon

The way you have to look at it is what would £2600 buy you? In todays market unless you're really lucky, probably not a lot. Its often better to put money into something that overall you know is sound, than to an unknown quantity of another car. Equally though with every vehicle there comes a time w...

I always thought of Alf Garnet being a bit like Eddie in Love Thy Neighbour, the joke was you were actually laughing at how narrow minded and racist they were being, not at the racism itself. Although I can totally understand why people would take offence at both programs, a lot of it was quite extr...

Re: The Wife's Vectra-C - The other battle wagon

I'm amazed that Vauxhall has got on top of the rust with these, my 61 plate mk5 has already got a bit in the back of the one sill, the bottom of the drivers door( on the inside) and under one of the fake panels by the door that smooths out the rear body to the front door. Normally I would treat thes...
