With my Volvo they actually plugged the mot machine into the ecu via the obd2 port to measure the oil temperature.

For the last 3 tests my Cav has always failed the emissions on the first run, but after a rev up and letting the fans kick in its always then had a low reading on the second run.

Re: Why are interviewers so rude?
I really hope they don't withdraw their job offer as we've had to already hand her notice in, in order to start once the new job wants her too.
Sometimes though you have to take risks, and it means an end to Weekend and 11pm working for lets not forget minimum wage.

Re: Why are interviewers so rude?
Finally today after just about giving up all hope my wife accepted a job offer, ok the hours are a bit less than she was hoping for, but they are going to put her through a new qualification related to the field she's working in, plus they are paying the living wage, rather than the minimum or less ...

Re: Good Old Fashioned Pub Grub
Couldn't agree more with you, the traditional pubs from the the 80s and 90s seem to be long gone. Whats so wrong with having a pint and proper burger and chips?
About the only good thing from modern pubs is the lack if smog from people smoking.

Ive had quite a few panels from MM opel parts, always arrive promptly and well packed. They usually seem to be genuine GM aswell. The owner also speaks very good English.

Re: Insurance
Funnily enough I just had the renewal come through for my Cav and it was about £130 with the existing company, havent tried the comparison sites yet. Sure it was about £110 last year. My volvo has actually gone down, I'm sure its around £260 now for me and the missus.

Re: The Wife's Vectra-C - The other battle wagon
The way you have to look at it is what would £2600 buy you? In todays market unless you're really lucky, probably not a lot. Its often better to put money into something that overall you know is sound, than to an unknown quantity of another car. Equally though with every vehicle there comes a time w...

I always thought of Alf Garnet being a bit like Eddie in Love Thy Neighbour, the joke was you were actually laughing at how narrow minded and racist they were being, not at the racism itself. Although I can totally understand why people would take offence at both programs, a lot of it was quite extr...

Its great you've got a pass. I've probably spent the same on my Volvo as you since December, yet very little new parts to show for it. Lets hope you have a few more years before you have spend much on it again.

Re: The Wife's Vectra-C - The other battle wagon
I'm amazed that Vauxhall has got on top of the rust with these, my 61 plate mk5 has already got a bit in the back of the one sill, the bottom of the drivers door( on the inside) and under one of the fake panels by the door that smooths out the rear body to the front door. Normally I would treat thes...

Ive got any vehicle plus cover my wife, home start, roadside and relay. I find that you can halve the cost if you remember to ring and threaten to cancel the policy, but with so much going on I forgot. Years ago their time was often around an hour, but I've recently even had them saying that they wo...

Looking at those bolts, its amazing that at least one didn't sheer, bet you'll be pleased to get the old girl back. Hope you managed to get a good deal on the hire charge as the last time I enquired it was cheaper to buy a banger than to pay for about 2 weeks rent. It amazes me that a car that just ...

I hope things start to change for the better soon. Life seems to be way to hard at the moment. My wifes job situation is getting worse, but she's now got some more interviews coming up i can only hope. It wasnt myself that I was thinking about, it was the fact that my son was going to be home on his...

Re: Volvo C70 2.0Diesel Convertible,auto
Last night I pulled into a lay by and there was a crater aka pot hole so deep that it took out my front wheel and tyre. My son was due home in the next half hour plus my wife was stuck at work which I explained to the AA ( the car is too low to get a jack under it) and they said they would make it a...

This time I hoovered the canopy all over, tack wiped down the body at least twice, masked up, panel wiped, blew it off with the air line then tacked it off again, all whilst running an extraction fan at the entrance. Without a proper booth I know I'm bound to still get a bit of dust in the paint but...

Re: Bedford Astravan MK2
Thanks, one of the things that I found made a big difference was buying some good quality masking tape, 3M was twice the price of others but saved probably about 2 hours in the masking process as it actually stuck rather kept lifting, so was worth every penny. For the top coat I'm going to try and r...

Re: Bedford Astravan MK2
Over the last month or so Ive been slowly continuing with yet more filling and rubbing down. This morning I went up to the unit early, masked the van and set about giving it another coat of Epoxy Primer. Unfortunatley since I last used it the paint seems to of gone off. Not the end of the world but ...

I often find that items from abroad tend to arrive quicker than the UK particularly when eBay is involved. Hopefully you will soon get a pass, are you still going to push with getting the cavalier on the road aswell?

You've probably already seen and im guessing they are not correct, but there's trailing arms under Vectra C on ebay. Plus if you get stuck a supplier I use is called ABC, Tel 01873 857 216, they are geared for local delivery, but if they can source them you could always have them delivered to me and...

Re: Why are interviewers so rude?
We've already tried applying for Lidil and Aldi, unfortunately they want you to start at 5.30am which as we live rural would mean she would have to get up around 4am, and with myself working so many hours I would be too knackered plus we would end up not seeing each other. In regards to the Manager ...

Re: Why are interviewers so rude?
Well! I've heard everything now! My wife went to an interview this morning and at the end they started to discuss pay. They stated that it would be treated as an apprenticeship scheme so therefore they wanted to pay her £7.50 an hour for 12months with no guarantee of a job at the end of it! Aparentl...
