Re: Steering Rack Brace

Very interested topic.

I actually have a brace from Abbots for my turbo project. Although it’s a long way off before it’s actually fitted.

I’d be keen to hear how you get on and the end result.

Hi, that’s a Nice looking car. I’d say change the alloys, but I see you’ve got some turbo alloys in one of the pics.

Hard to find a good Car with history, let alone One that’s a good 25+ yrs.

Keep us posted on developments...

Mr Robsey I want one of those, look at the space, damn free air con included for free.

My garage is worse - trusts me.. even my little old mk2 golf 16v gti had to come out of hibernation from the garage. Moving on quickly away from vw ;-)

I’ll keep you posted on the bits.

Lol perhaps go all out with some Gsi2000 or Turbo or Opel badges.. I got a good selection. Haha Anyways, back to the i badge. The badges are in the garage.., and to be honest it’s not something I can do in five minutes. There’s about 20+ box full of parts etc. And i got several sets of alloys to neg...

I’d also suggest check the battery tray and inside the long plastic trim covering the wiper motors... good spot for leafs and water.

Boot panel - I know exactly what you mean. Although it’s never been a problem for the German-land guys... I know good few, and they still have the original parts on their cars and no cracks. I personally never hand any issues in the past with any my previous cars - i guess the boot rubbers helped an...

Re: Mk3 cavalier saloon boot

Yes these guys are pretty good. Although the packaging is a bit naff & poor for larger parcels. Also they charge a lot more for bigger items... it’s by weight and size. I’d say check locally first as it may be a short trip to collect one. In any case will save you a tank of juice compared to the...

Doubt you’ll find a new one... Also, it won’t be cheap.

Next best option is to check the scrap yards or know anyone breaking a cavalier.

Re: Mk3 cavalier saloon boot

Ah, depends what you mean by boot .. boot lid, boot floor...? Boot lid.. it’s the same for all saloons.. There’s a Standard boot floor .. and then there’s the one specifically designed for the gsi, 4x4 turbos. The cavalier (gsi / turbo) and Calibra had rear independent suspension... and hence the re...

Congratulations on the move... I too had a same in the past few months... and the headaches. I went one step further, by shipping a good number of parts directly to the workshop. Re: Temperature of the Exhaust System Components

I’m no exhaust expert but I think it helps the gases to flow through more efficiently. Also keeps system cooler and longer life of exhaust system - protection from rust.

Some guys I knew (with mk2 golf gti 16v) had the exhaust ceramic coated. Better gas flow and improved bhp... so they said.

I would agree with Robsey’s comments... pretty much bang on! Make sure the shell is rock solid- no rust regardless model you go for. Have a good look around, especially under the shell, arches, sills, chassis front and rear. If you have a torch handy use it... don’t be shy! Check the vin plate, engi...

Re: Hi everybody!

My recommendation would be a higher spec car - cdi / diplomat / Sri .. all 16v 2lt engines.

More comfortable to drive along with the trim package...

If you’re a bit adventurous then the gsi / turbo models as these are going up in price.

Personal choice though... good luck
