Re: 95 2.0 16v Auto idle surging
Opcom is not really suited to cars before 1997 with 10 pin diagnostic (ALDL) socket. As your CDX is an X20XEV, then you may get away with diagnosing for an early Vectra-B OpCom has a 16 pin EOBD II plug. Cavalier is 10 pin (A to K) An adapter lead is as follows.:- ALDL pin A (ground) to OpCom pins ...

I have the same issue it’s ok when cold but when the engine is fully up to temperature it’s not very good mine is an automatic in drive there is no issue. I also cleaned the throttle body and all the ports. I also put a new IAC valve on this stopped the stalling but not the hunting. On mine I did ha...

Re: Speeding up the fuel gauge
I could be wrong, but I think the gages work with a bi-matalic strip they warm up so to speak so unless you replace the gauge to an electronic style not sure if this is available or not though.

The oscilloscope can be very useful for checking all sorts of variables. Sensors like crank angle, cam shaft position can be checked for there pulse waveform shape and size. Same with the ABS sensors, to see if you get a good square wave shape with 28 full waves per wheel rotation. I have seen wave...

It was lovely to once again meet up with James and Lizzy again although I think I may have boad them to tears. It was myself and my missus that pestered Team McGrath in 2018. That's nonsense guys. It was a pleasure to catch up with you both. I'm only sorry I didn't spend more time chatting. What yo...

I am surprised you did not see me... I was the numpty strapped to a big goofy black great dane dog. For a change, although I took them with me, I did not fit the Robsey number plates. For some reason, I feel a bit "girlie" fitting them... although the name Robsey doesn't scream masculinit...

The car looks stunning James, it's a shame about the bits that got broken and cracked and the chip on the alloy wheel is so just annoying, however this video is something I would like to try on my Cavalier alloys https://youtu.be/9WQiqYlpxoY I hope this gives you hope or something to try, as for the...

Re: What's in the box?!
Well, close enough. It's a GM Tech 1 diagnostic scanner. One of the very early Vauxhall ones by the looks of it. [ Image ] It came with a nice selection of cartages too. I think the only one I'll need to find is a 1995 one for the V6. [ Image ] It's a bit tatty and rough around the edges and I woul...

Hi I don't know if you already have the answer you need but I just been out and took a couple of pictures to help you, I have a 2.0 Ecotec and the high pressure service port is under the car on the drivers side the best way to see it is stand by the offside front wheel and look down the clearing nex...

I would like to suggest it possibly may be the crank sensor, these engines needs the crank signal to run but they can't just run off the cam sensor like some cars can. Just my thoughts.

Re: James' 2.0 8v Diplomat
The scrap yard was all a bit officious; they had standardised prices for everything and no haggling. Otherwise I would have taken more. Anyway, I took the Diplomat in today for it's repairs. On top of the accident damage, it's going to get both inner and outer wheel arches replaced, both sills, the...

Re: James' 1993 Cavalier LS
Nice little update James, I wonder if these help keep the heat in? My MK2 cavalier is missing, I wonder if this will help keep the engine warm in cooler weather and thus I won't have to use slight choke to keep her running when I haven't used her for a few hours.
