Re: My VERY RUSTY VW T25 Camper Van Project

"It will end in tears"!!! :cry Only joking, but it is a mammoth job. Plan is to keep a lot of the look of the original exterior, and for the most part cab interior. I haven't thought where the body panels can be stored just yet. It won't be at work. A big van means big panels. Sur...

Re: Blaine's Vauxhall Cavalier 2.0 GLS

Thanks for the advice.

I had one of those cheap ones that aldi/lidl get in every now and again. I know it is lying around somewhere and I don't really want to buy one if I don't need to.

I will get sorted at some point with it haha

Re: Ford Puma Thunder

Once it is done I intend to waxoil or equivalent anything that I can! The problem with these is that even the rear arch liners are like a carpet instead of plastic of most cars. They really do hang onto the moisture really badly. For the quarter panels I need to buy a couple of Peugeot 206 front win...

Re: Blaine's Vauxhall Cavalier 2.0 GLS

Don't know much about any of these other than that it works haha. I want to put a CD player in at some point as I am currently using a plug-in Portable CD player that connects to the cassette. I have one lying around somewhere just can't remember where I put it. The missus took the photos on the duv...

Ford Puma Thunder

Thought it would be a good idea to start a thread for my next project. I bought a 2001 Ford Puma thunder back in 2014 as a one owner car with 32,000 miles on it and every invoice for the car. I knew the owner of the car so knew that it was quite solid car. The idea was to use the car only on weekend...

Re: Blaine's Vauxhall Cavalier 2.0 GLS

Finally found my centre caps earlier. These are now fitted to the car and I will be taking some photographs later

Also just found this in a bag the previous owner gave me.

Think this will be going on Ebay as I have no use for it

Re: Blaine's Vauxhall Cavalier 2.0 GLS

Fuel Filler flap arrived this morning and it looks as though it may be the same colour!

Will try and get it fitted later today, only looks as though it is a couple of screws holding it in

Re: My VERY RUSTY VW T25 Camper Van Project

I am in the process of liaising with Chris Knott, as I qualify for forum members' discount from Vectra-C.com. Strange thing is the modifications are only to make the van easier to drive and reduce emissions. To be honest, a crate on wheels is never going to be a pimp-mobile or a santa-pod track car...

Re: Blaine's Vauxhall Cavalier 2.0 GLS

Ah yes - the disc dust shield... They do rot out badly due to being down in all the road spray and muck. I don't have any fitted on the front. I bought new ones and then forgot where I put them - for safe keeping - ha ha. Can't see it being any problem with them not being fitted. I am hoping to try...

Re: 1994 Cavalier LSi C20NE (was C18NZ) Work-horse

Okay - ebay partially to the rescue... maybe. I have ordered a low pressure pipe that looks amazingly close to mine, even though the part numbers do not match. I also ordered a pipe for a Calibra with two theaded joints on, which I hope Euro Hydraulics will be able to use to make up the necessary h...

Re: Electric Window Fault

It is a very simple set up... So not a lot to go wrong. Have another look at my How 2 in the link a few posts ago. Just to allow you to check for any issues. I took it back apart, yet to try it back in the car though. I think possibly one of the little cap things wasn't sitting correctly when I put...

Can one of the companies that specialise in modified vehicles not help?

Thinking like Greenlight, Adrian Flux, Chris Knott, etc?

Re: Blaine's Vauxhall Cavalier 2.0 GLS

Did you not stop and investigate ? I am a bit paranoid about strange noises. I would have to stop and investigate. Are you missing a mud flap? Couldn't really stop where I was to he honest would have been dangerous. I am going to go for a drive down that way and see if I can see what it was. The in...

Re: Blaine's Vauxhall Cavalier 2.0 GLS

So cambelt, waterpump etc is all done. I put two new tyres on the front also. Had a weird thing happen on way home though. Had a small grating noise, presumed it was just the brake heat shield catching. Went to turn left and something fell off the car and went underneath it. I have not idea what it ...

Re: Electric Window Fault

I think it could be a damaged switch as the actual movement of the switch does not seem to be smooth.

I keep wondering if it is one of the little pin things not sitting correctly when I put the switch back together?

Re: Electric Window Fault

pulled the number 12 fuse tonight. Fuse was blown. Locked and unlocked the car and the fuse blew again.

I pulled the mirror switch out, replaced the fuse and tried it again. The windows work when the mirror switch is not connected, so looks as though fault with mirror switch

Re: Electric Window Fault

Have you blown a fuse -? Sounds like the ignition live control wire has no power feed. Or have you disconnected the battery? If you have, then you need to re-synchronise the windows. Standard procedure is to power the windows up to the close position - and continue to press the closed button for a ...

Electric Window Fault

Good Morning All

Got a weird problem with the windows on the cavalier this morning.

Basically the electric windows have stopped working. However if you open the door the windows will work. As soon as you close the door the windows stop working again?

Anybody ever had this before?

Re: Blaine's Vauxhall Cavalier 2.0 GLS

Thank you very much for that

Its certainly worth having a look at and seeing what I can find.

I have got the bug back a bit so would like to tidy the car up If I can.

I need to tackle my rear brakes as the discs are heavily corroded and the handbrake is very poor

Re: Blaine's Vauxhall Cavalier 2.0 GLS

Regarding the fuel filler flap - I have just posted this on another thread. Not sure why, but there have been a few members on the hunt for a fuel filler flap recently. After a quick search, there is still the odd one available from GPS (genuine part search), but it depends if you think it is worth...

Re: Blaine's Vauxhall Cavalier 2.0 GLS

It is possible to dismantle the mirror switch. Mine wasn't very well so gave it a squirt of contact cleaner (with a lubricant) which helped for a bit but then wouldn't work at all. Taking it apart I could see why, it was full of green verdigris, it all cleaned up ok and has been fine ever since! Al...
