Re: Possible switch fault?

They did, yes. I'm happier with them than I was with the lot who MOTd my Mazda just after Christmas - I'd asked them to get me in a new set of front wiper blades, and fit them before the MOT - and when I checked the DVLA database, I found they'd failed it - on the wiper blades - then fitted the blad...

Re: Possible switch fault?

YDM went for her MOT this morning. An hour later, I got a phone call...... it has failed.... on a LIGHT BULB !!! Damn! If I'd known it was out, I'd have changed it myself. Nearside indicator repeater. Anyway, apart from that - to use the words of the lady who rang me from the MOT centre: "We co...

White K-reg hatch, Norwich

Took YDM out for a run yesterday, and was passed by another Cavalier travelling in the opposite direction, Norwich-bound on the A140 at Stratton Strawless. Car was a white K-reg facelift hatch, looked like a fairly tidy daily driver, never seen it before. Didn't see it in time to ascertain the trim ...

Re: Festival of the Unexceptional

I have decided that I am an anorak. I recognised the car as a Chrysler Alpine. My Chemistry teacher at school (1985 - 1989) had a Chrysler Alpine, it was bright orange and there was actual green moss growing on both front and rear bumpers. My form tutor had an R-reg Marina, the woodwork teacher had...

Re: Festival of the Unexceptional

Oh, did nobody tell you, Robsey? I think most of us ALREADY had you down as an anorak!!! Don't worry though - I include myself in that category too :thumb I could have added a Y-reg yellow Metro 1.0 City and a W-reg Chevette 'Sun Hatch' to the list, now resting alongside your two. Anyone up fo...

Re: Vauxhall Open Day, Luton Sunday 9th June

To be honest, I'd be happy to park the Cav up at the Heritage Centre, and stay there all day and have a mooch about, and avoid the kids, sunburn, and molten ice-cream of the Transport Festival. Anyone in?

Vauxhall Heritage Centre Open Day, Luton Sunday 9th June

I'm up for this...

https://www.caffyns.co.uk/news/vauxhall ... etail.aspx

Have I read it correctly, that that part is free? The Luton Festival of Transport is a separate thing?

Re: Possible switch fault?

That list is hugely helpful Robsey, thanks very much, I've saved that. I did buy a multi-bag of mixed fuses when I bought the car, as a precaution, perhaps I should go through them all one weekend and check them.
Thanks again! :thumb

Re: Possible switch fault?

fair play to the guy... turns out it WAS a dodgy fuse.... I had replaced the fuse, but I'd identified the wrong one; the one I pulled out was a 30, the corroded one he replaced was a 15. That diagram moulded into the inside of the drop-down fusebox cover isn't very clear! Anyway, fixed.

Re: 1989 Granada on 43,000 miles

Perhaps the colour hasn't come out properly on my photo... the car is in fact a sort of metallic champagne colour and looked much nicer in the flesh.

1989 Granada on 43,000 miles

Spotted this MINT Ford Granada 2.5 TurboDiesel GL in Cromer today, MOT history shows the mileage as a little over 43,000. It looked absolutely immaculate. I wonder what MPG it returns? I bet it could do with a good blow-out! [/[URL=https://s1376.photobucket.com/user/naj6673/media/DSCN8786_zpsv4aaw9k...

Re: Possible switch fault?

Fixed! Thanks to Glenn Bee, auto electrician in Norwich. The fault was a burnt out connector underneath the drivers footwell / seat area. The interior lamp now works from the offside doors, the 'lights-on' warning sound now works, and the electric window lights (down by the handbrake) don't stay on ...

Re: Possible switch fault?

OK so in fact it WASN'T the switch, the new switch was fitted but the multiple problems associated with it are still there (windows operating without key in ignition and switch lights remaining illuminated, electric mirrors not working, courtesy light not operating from either offside door, lights-o...

Many many thanks to Robsey, and to dorsetdave, for your help and advice with this, I will be forwarding this link to my mechanic, who will be having the car soon to replace a very tired bonnet release cable. Cheers fellas :thumb :thumb

Possible switch fault?

Due to lack of use, I top up my battery with a trickle charger every Sunday, it is usually ready to switch off on the Monday. Today, while disconnecting the leads, I noticed two small lights on, inside the car. They are the two small button lights for the electric front windows, down near the handbr...

Norfolk / Suffolk meander in March

Anyone fancy an unofficial convoy / meander around Norfolk, maybe into North Suffolk, on a Saturday or Sunday in March? ( Note: I can't do 9th/10th ) I'm just throwing the idea out there - but may not have time myself to do too much in the way of organising anything solid, ie a route or time points....

Re: Dashcam

Thanks James. Yes, it's off sale now. It is, and always was, a keeper. Like I say, a knee-jerk reaction. I did have a guy interested in it, a bit of a Vauxhall nut, who owns TWO Lotus Carltons and a number of sporty Vectras. I think in the end he went for a Calibra V6 instead of mine... thankfully!
