I found a good article on everything2 about fault codes. After getting my friend to look at it, he said that it was worth replacing the radiator cap before going for the head gasket. I replaced it, and dissed the battery for 1 hour to reset the codes, and so far, it has not lost any more water.

To keep this thread on engine management light: I have fault code 13 which is not on the topbuzz list. Anyone know what this is
