Quick update on Gsi restoration, just fitted lockwood white dials and they look awesome, also fitted blue LED dash lights, looks great at night, chosen an exhaust going for twin round pipes, found a great box on a well known auction site, hope to get fiited soon. I no its not a vectra but i had to rebuild a forktruck engine which some bright spark run it dry, the noise was incrediable, knocked a good'n, i had to strip the lot, new crank, shells, pistons, con rods, i mean everything had to be replaced, the bill was unbelieveable i think it was about £6000, th...

Fuel Pump?
Fuel pumps, do they only pump when you turn the key i.e before you start you can hear it prime up, or does it go constantly or does it come on now and again? i ask this cos the bloke i brought the gsi from has butcherd the loom to the pump so im gonna run it off a switch as there is no feed down the...

Good news chaps.......... I double checked the timing and exhaust cam was out a tooth, i retensioned the belt spun her over by hand twice and went for it, started her up and to my surprise, silence, it was purring, like it should, the only thing giving my grief now is the back box is knackerd and it...

The car is at a stand still at the mo as the head gasket on the wifes vectra has blown and well, ive got my orders so in the process of stripping that. Im gonna check the timing again when i get back on it, hopefully next week. As for work on the car, its had new fuel hoses, pump and timing belt. Il...

Abit of news for ya, i spoke to a bloke who knew a bloke who use to own the cavalier i now own and he said the person i bought it from, (are you with me :D ) put and run it with diesel in, hence why i had to put a new fuel pump on it. Is there a chance the injectors are shot? or would abit of cleane...

Wow that has got to be the best looking cavalier ive ever seen, absolutly stunning my friend, you have definatly raised the bar, im currently restoring a GSi 2000 4x4 and i can only hope it will look half as good as yours.

Is there much difference between the two engines, besides the LET being Turbo, are the blocks the same, the pistons, cams etc? could a XE be converted to a turbo without touching inner'ds?

Well, the engine is running on its own all though i got a massive leak on the intake side, think thats why she's running rough, its also got a bad knock, which i can only put down to bottom end or piston slap, either way the heads coming off in the next few weeks to take alook inside, ill get the he...

Regal motor sport based in southampton did that with 2 calibra engines in a Nova of all things, same set up front engine drove front wheels and rear engine took car of the back end, with hydraulic gearbox and the ability to switch between front, rear and all wheel drive, it was featured in Maxpower,...
