Re: The Wife's Vectra-C - The other battle wagon

Kool, hopefully if they are salvagable you can recoup some of the costs flogging them on Rob - or tarting up for spares (though I doubt you'll need to do them again in the Vectras life time?

Fingers crossed the MOT is sorted and costs don't ramp up too much with the car hire.

Re: 1994 Cavalier LSi C20NE (was C18NZ) Work-horse

Nice list there. Alot of that is more than doable with your capable hands in the run up to mot prep too. Regardless of which headlight setup you go with Rob, relaying the lights so they have a better power feed will pay dividends in turns out light output so thats a must :) Look forward to seeing so...

Re: The Wife's Vectra-C - The other battle wagon

I bought a small car in 2016 when the Cavalier was being refurbed. The wife went ballistic and forced me to sell it. I daren't even consider another car, as I may end up in next week's obituaries. Amazingly I had an almost identical offer from Troy. Virtually giving me a Swift, but needs an MOT and...

Re: The Wife's Vectra-C - The other battle wagon

Damn! those bolts are looking past it - though they should come out with some heat on the them and maybe the needler attachment on the airgun to break up any thread corrosion.

Good luck sourcing the parts.

Re: The Wife's Vectra-C - The other battle wagon

That isn't a bad failure list in the long run really considering the age of it.
As for tyres, consumables, though maybe worth instating a quarterly check minimum on these things.
reminds me, need to check the oil on the Yaris when the weather lets up.

Re: My VERY RUSTY VW T25 Camper Van Project

Sounds like the clamp is pulling the bushing out of shape, hopefully the rubber grease prevents that! As for the blue on black, it probably works if more bits were painted to offset the one piece that said its a matter of taste and I tend to think red/ black, or a darker shade of blue. Looks like it...

Re: Why are interviewers so rude?

Sadly, location can be prohibitive. Its an employers market at the moment sadly. Re: being too old, why would you say that? Granted hours probably won't be great either, that said only other option is to relocation and in this climate, thats likely going to sting. What about self employment?

Re: Why are interviewers so rude?

Having no idea where in the country you are, I can't really comment too much on the demographics. However, a 50 mile round trip is somewhat insane (to me at least). That's what, a tenner a day in fuel, and probably an hour each way depending on time and roads used (allowing for traffic). In terms of ...

Re: Rustival 2024 MARCH 9th

Excellent. Did you only look at the Vauxhalls? I like a lot of the old 80s and 90s cars. It is just nice to see cars from my younger days. Whether it is a TR7, a Super-Mirafiori or even a Morris Marina. They are more interesting due to their personality and rarety. Nah, looked at everything there r...

*Kids - not a detrimental term, but when staff are becoming 'managers' at 23/24 are they really in a position to be a manager, life experience counts for a lot in terms of being empathetic / sympathetic and being able to deal with individuals in an appropriate manner. **Manage - either got there by...

Can certainly say Rustival was worth the drive - some excellent projects there, and even 3-4 mk3 cav's, a mk1 and a handful of mk2's. Severeal corsas' astras too.

I am not opposed to people coming over for a better life (if such a thing is possible in the UK these days :/ ) I just ask that forms didn't have what is translated to 'preferential treatment' which guarantees them an interview even if they don't meet the criteria.. The do-gooding for equality has g...

Re: Why are interviewers so rude?

It is a demoralising situation (sorry, I have meant to reply to this for a while now but haven;t been able to construct a reply I was happy with). The job market is upside down in a lot of sectors - because of the hiring practises over the past 2 decades (which Rob mentions above) in that they hire ...

I don't know... but these pattern panels are the worst I have ever seen. A huge 16 to 19mm (5/8" to 3/4") out at the bottom. https://i.postimg.cc/RVp6G2ZQ/20210630-020950.jpg Only Klokkerholme in Denmark make them. So even the best UK suppliers, Heritage and Brickwerks have to sell them a...
