Re: Bizarre occurance
You didn't mention whether you had an engine light. The crank angle sensor should throw up an engine light. But if the ECU loses top dead centre it would cut the spark. Fuel pump would not throw up an engine light. It struggles to start and once running the light comes on a few seconds later. I did...

Re: Breakdown insurance
Find it kind of odd that have worked in the industry for 10 years and never heard of them. Same here. Main ones we deal with are AA, RAC, Interpartner, Green flag, Mondial, Audi & Volkswagen assist(based through RAC contract) and Auto home. Do have a few private contracts but never heard of them.

So far, ive been unable to find the relay. Haynes says its in the relay box under the bonnet and ive heard that they are also in the drivers right hand kick panel. Unable to locate the relay as most forums say that its purple or according to haynes it has a black base. Really struggled tonight and c...

Re: arguing about old cars vs new
I think andrei has a little of the eastern european way of life running in his blood, make do and mend, springs to mind. I dont think that most young people show off in a new car, I think its more of a sense of freedom. Granted, you do get utter pillocks out there and completely sympathise in many w...

Hobby turns stressful.
As some may know, I colect Hotwheels cars, so like to hit the stores nice and early to get the latest mixes, the store proved fruitful with a very recent mix, all was well until a chap came up to me and asked, Do you own a green vauxhall in the car park? Some one has just ran into it. The old duffer...

Re: Bizarre occurance
I was thinking along the lines of the pump.
Plenty of juice in it.
Did have my front fog fall out and got dragged under the wheel, may have to check for any damage to the fuel lines.
Thanks guys

Bizarre occurance
been out most of the afternoon in the car, on way back it skipped a beat, like no petrol, then carried on as normal. Then it happened again but this time didnt recover, foot to the floor and sounded like no fuel at all. Pulled over and she restarted in a few seconds and ran perfect but when it was d...

Re: Breakdown insurance
This seems at first sight very similar to the Adrian Flux Equity Red Star policy but I've yet to grind through the small print. Thought: if you are involved in an accident miles from home as opposed to breaking down then presumably a breakdown policy won't want to know??? Some companies may charge ...

You aint the first and defo wont be the last. Attacking the barrel for a "laser" cut key isnt the way to go, which you have now learnt the hard way. You could make a tool and keep it handy, but you wont be able to carry it around with you all the time, if your out for a drive and stop to g...

Only Polish vodka I've tried is Zubrowka. With Bizon grass in it. Tasted weird but I'm not a fan of paint thinner anyway. Only scotch, rum or gin for me, not that paint thinner called vodka. Wee bit harsh to call all vodka paint thinner, there is a vast variety of flavours and strengths available, ...

Re: Breakdown insurance
This is precisely why I've been emailing Albany to get them to send their conditions so that I know in advance what the ground rules are rather than when I'm desperate! With the breakdown insurance I equally need to check whether a home start for a 21 year old motor is in or excluded - and / or if ...

Egertons, as in the yellow trucks? If you only pay when you need it, it wont be cheap, they WILL sting you, all recovery can becasue you need them(think fuel and food at a motorway service station), you will pay a minimum of around £2.50 per mile, which starts from the trucks depot, to you, your hom...

...from Poland. Stayed at the mother in laws apartment (5th floor ex communist block) and visited family. Apart from the hundreds of opels knocking about, there was a fair few cavaliers/vectra A's and they were in suprisingly good nick, some had scabby arches and aside from a few scuffs and scrapes,...

Was really good last time I went in, walked out a couple of notes lighter though.

Bank account is a very popular route to cover these days, most banks offer a variation but watch the small print and make sure the cover is what you need as some give only the bare basics. Ive been to many people who have thought they had the bee's knee's of cover, only to find out its not worth a ...

Good news, but I tend to disagree on running with low fuel causing the pick up pipe to suck debris up. Regardless of how much fuel you have in your tank, its sucked up from the same place, so it should be pulling crap through all the time. The gunk is probably down to the internals of the filter bre...

Most fantastic sound of a V engine has to be the Merlin. To hear a Lancaster flying by with 4 of them.... takes things to a new level. All these crappy new audis and mercs with their so-called V8's. they sound shit. Too muffled and too modern. No, it's gotta be from the 50's through to the 70's for...

Cavalier Gsi - everyday practical saloon, with some grunt to it for the B roads... A sensibly sporty saloon. 106 gti - small chav bucket with a bigger engine and a crappy spoiler just for chavs. Small cars should have small engines, big cars should have big engines, end of. I'm sure you'll find the...
