It's not really a test, it's just what my engine does really. Try it in 3rd gear at about 30-35 mph, I'm fascinated to know if it's just my Cav that does it.
I don’t think I am going to the meeting at Rownhams services if that’s the one your talking about, it’s just a bit too far for me.

Spark plugs
I'm a bit confused over which spark plugs to use. After its recent service some pretty awful champion ones were put in and I want to replace them with some better ones. I had Bosch super 4's in there before, but rather than getting the same ones again and again I thought I might ask if anyone recomm...

Re: James' 1993 Cavalier LS
This is so true lol but they're so amazingly reliable and not bad with the old juice:-) Yeah, I'm a big fan of the engine myself. Modern 1.6 engines are very boring in comparison, especially when it comes to sound. Do you get that fantastic whistle tone at about 2500-3000 rpm? Talking of reliabilit...

Re: James' 1993 Cavalier LS
I've been busy today. First of all I've finally got around to fitting the new electric headlamp. (Adjuster motor courtesy of Robsy, thanks again for that :thumb ) While I was removing the headlamp what did I find but both the original headlamp rubbers tucked inside the bumper. I thought they had bee...

Re: James' 1993 Cavalier LS
Gave my cam cover a good clean yesterday. Soaked it in swarfega degreaser for 3 hours and gave it a good scrub with a wire brush for a further 3 hours, or what seemed like 3 hours anyway. Here are the results, sorry no during photos this time, Before: http://i1115.photobucket.com/albums/k554/James_M...

Re: 2 flyered in 1 car park
I've seen worse alloy wheels.
I know what you mean though, I think the original SRi alloys look fantastic and why anyone would want to replace them is beyond me.
But really it's the side indicators and the silver windscreen wipers I don't like.

2 flyered in 1 car park
I spotted these two yesterday in Kingstanding Business Park in Tonbridge wells as I was picking up a new car battery for my Cavalier. Luckily I had a bunch of flyers with me! Nice to see some Cavaliers are still around the Tonbridge Wells area. First of all a tatty LS; http://i1115.photobucket.com/a...

Re: James' 1993 Cavalier LS
Right, cracked wing mirror next. The thing I found most annoying about this is that there was a spider that was living inside the crack so I would find a perfect spiders web that had been woven between the door and the outside edge of the mirror casing, relentlessly this spider would weave a new one...

Re: James' 1993 Cavalier LS
Ok this has been a long time in the making. My main problem was getting the parts, more specifically the blanking plate itself. Eventually I did find one that fits, but it wasn't made for a cavalier. It was made for a Daewoo Tacuma of all things! Ok first of all get the top hat off the air intake as...

Re: James' 1993 Cavalier LS
Ok, as promised here is the first set of jobs that I've been up to so far this summer armed only with a Haynes manual and a good set of spanners... First the slightly dangerous broken wiper blade arm. How this happened God only knows. However the finger of blame does point rather strongly at the &qu...

Well the New Forest is an awfully long way for me so I agree with Brighton or somewhere midway, Crawley perhaps?

Re: James' 1993 Cavalier LS
Looks good, however I'm confused, is it a prefacelift with facelift parts, or vice versa? It's a long story but basically it's a facelift model with a pre-facelift bonnet. This is because my father was unfortunate enough to have an accident involving a 9 foot tall stag at night on the 30th December...

James' 1993 Cavalier LS
I thought it was about time I did a proper WIP thread so I can update you all on what I've been doing recently, so here goes. First allow me to introduce myself and the car. Well it’s a 1993 1.6i (C16NZ2) engine LS with currently roughly 168600 miles on the clock I've been driving the cavalier for 2...

Ha, Ha. You all have it easy.
I've just renewed my insurance, it cost £950.
Remembering this is for a standard 1993 1.6i saloon with 2 additional drivers and 2 yeas NCB.

Re: Creaky steering
I took it to the mechanic today and he said it could be any one of 4 things:
Shock absorber
Radius arm
cv joint
Top mount bearing
I’ve booked it in for Thursday the 11th so hopefully it will be sorted then.

Ok well thanks for your help.
I'll take it in to the mechanic tomorrow and see if he finds anything.
What I have noticed is that it seems to be worse on hot days but it might just be a coincidence.

What a waist. I don't know about you but I hate German cars (the modern ones that is). Audis, BMWs, VWs ect ect. I just find then so utterly void of any character or personality I can’t stand it. Why would anyone want to take a perfectly good Omega and turn it into "just another Audi". I d...
