A lot of people remove them and say that they are not required. I removed the one on my GSI while trying to diagnose a problem and found no noticeable difference in the running of the engine

I had a similar problem with my GSI turned out to be a split hose on the fuel pressure regulator, worth a look.

I had an issue with my front passenger door lock started working intermittently It confused the central locking module because it was out of sequence I’d lock the car go to walk away and it would unlock itself because the front passenger door was stuck unlocked

If you're going to fit the power steering rack you might want to reinforce the rack mounts now as MK2 's with power steering are prone to splitting the bulkhead around the mount area.

Shopping at Sainsbury's my wife got a 4p of a litre of fuel voucher but at 1.66 a litre it only brings it down to 1.62 the same as my local garage so no difference, just trying to con you into thinking you got a bargain.
