Insurance

Well, I'm going to mention that I followed all the advice on martin lewis's moneysavingexpert website, and registered for quidco, a cash back website, which makes all internet purchases a little less unpleasant. So I used Confused and go compare, and got myself £1.82, twice, once for each quote, and...

Re: M & J Motors Swansea.....**BEWARE**

My clutch on my old cav had pretty much gone, so when my dad was doing the mot he left it in reverse while doing the brake test on the front... Obv played havoc due to revers be engaged and the wheels trying to go forward... Basically the wheels kept turning to one side and scrapped the f**k out of...

Re: Best Place to Buy ... metal work

So I spent Saturday on the Drivers side lower rear arch / last 4 inches of Sill. Taught my 19 year old how to weld with Gas less mig, and how to grind the rust off, and how to make repair plates for the inner arch out of spare bits. I'll take some photo's once I've coated it with a liberal coating o...

Hi, 1 small hole in the side of the sill. Which side, how far along. I have 1.5 passenger side sills from Hadrian/Imperial Sitting on my Garage roof. Just ordered a Drivers Side Rear arch repair panel to do the back end of the sill and the rear arch. But based in Merseyside and my welding is erm av...

Because the 1.6i Ghia Orion was an XR3i in a suit, that appealed to more mature people, and is rarer, and with RS Turbo Wheels looks the dogs balls.

Good on a gsi, but lets face it 15" alloys dont really cut it anymore. Wooooah! Slow down... I'm still on 14s, won't be doing anything bigger until the tyres are worn out on these! I've got mk2 cav 130 / mk2 astra gte alloys on our j reg 1.8, and am finding that 195/60/14 is now such a common ...

Re: quick question re cav running gear

A normal gls shell. I did ask and was told the only issues were no engine, a dent in the rear doir and a parch of rust above the rear window and a cracked screen. The car is a g reg sport 2.0 8v 4x4. Turned up today with major rot in most panels, including around the sunroof, only half a windscreen...

Re: Bodywork issues on a mk 3 cavalier sri saloon

What everyone said, sills, rear arches and chassis legs, but I was amazed how bad mine, was found whilst repairing the sill. Lie down in front of the rear wheel, slide yourself under so you can see the inner sills, where the inner rear arch meets the inner sill, there is a strengthening bracket acro...

Re: MOT fail again

Ignore the advisories for now, what was the issue with the handbrake? An did they have the car at temp for the emissions? For the jagged rear arch, round off the sharp bits and gaffer tape it. If your local i'll happily have a look for you When I took the bakerlite looking rear shoes off, one was s...

Imperial delivered 2 sills instead of one, so If anyone NEEDS a passenger sill in exchange for say a rear arch repair panel, or something else you think I need, I'm happy to swap.

MOT fail again

So I spent The Jubilee Weekend fixing the handbrake and putting 1/2 a new sill on the passenger side, and now it's failed on hand brake, emissions, a jagged edge on the rear arch, and numerous advisories.

I'm waiting for a price as I just don't have any more time to piss about.

I'm in 2 minds. My 1.8 is sitting in a garage having failed the MOT on lots of spurious issues, and the guy is pricing them up, but wondering if I should cut my losses, and buy this.
