Re: cambelt change on 1.7TD (isuzu)
Whaen I change belts on diesels I always use genuine belts and replace the guides and tensioners and waterpump if required. Also on these engines I check the torque of the oil pump sprocket nut. But on this engine the waterpump is driven by the aux belt isnt it?

Re: lazy starter? bad earth?
Sounds like a classic case of overcharging, do a test with a multimeter. Regulated voltage should be 14.4 to 15 volts MAX at 2500rpm. Personally if it is anything over 14.5 with a good battery I would suspect the alternator.

Re: help with 2 things
In all these years I have never managed to use a proper pair of circlip pliers for this. I have uhm modified a long pair of needle nose pliers which works ok, and I bought a tool off fleabay which also works pretty good too. Very similar to these. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BERGEN-Vewerk-Tools-Drive-...

Re: WHATS THIS ON MY OLI FILLER CAP ???
As others have said. Just a little condensation on the oil filler cap mixed with a bit of oil, either caused by short journeys or cheap oil or incorrect grade of oil, and maybe some partially blocked breathers.

The engine number you quoted on the document, is the same engine number it left the factory (Antwerp) And it is the Z16XEP twinport engine. However you should check the engine number yourself.

Re: SPi verus Carb.
I guess it depends on the carb, that GM varajet was a bit of an abortion to be totally honest :sick As for spi I always think of little engines like the 106 etc IF I was going to back to a carb I think it would need to be a Weber or Dell'orto depending how much money I wanted to spend. Or if I wante...

Re: 1.6 Auto J reg drinking fuel.
Heavy old car to lug around for a 1.6, especially an auto. Town driving doesnt help either. I believe to do the timing on one of these you have to unplug the octane plug (if fitted) to set basic timing mode.

Re: MAF sensor on a 1.8 CFi (C18NZ) ??
Nobody have any ideas?? Even Haynes and TIS make no mention of a MAF sensor for C18NZ - multec CFi. I assume it doesn't have one and my suspect will be the Lambda sensor as the EML only illuminates when the car is being driven at "normal" running temperature, never when the engine is belo...

Re: Coil
I do apologise for not making it clear. I meant the coil just connect a voltmeter between the positive side of the coil marked 15 and a good earth. Switch the ignition on and measure the voltage. If you see between 9 and 11 volts you have a ballasted coil. If you see 12 volts and up (depending on th...
