Is each one a differant length or do you mow in opposite directions? stripes are made by the way the grass is rolled by the mower, bit like when you brush velvet in different directions. You also get better stripes using cylinder mowers, rotatory blade mowers are ...

corrosion on block

Cleaned up my 1.8 engine block today ready to start putting the engine back together and while cleaning all the old headgasket off i've found there's a defined channel between the water ways from corrosion although the block around the cylinders looks fine. having never done a headgasket on a car ne...

Re: Anyone know anything about lawn mower engines?

Defo the diaphragm, fixed a few Briggs 35's with that prob, old petrol makes the rubber loose it tension. be careful with the springs on the governor as they can be dearer than the diaphragm kits if you break or stretch them, replace your blade to as your about it, it will cut grass so much better. ...

FOUND IT !!!........the bit i lost was down in the engine, wedged in a corner, it hadn't made it to the sump, only visible once the sump was removed, still, its a good time to clean the sump out and give it a paint.Image

Re: Arc welders are they any use?

I still use one at work mainly on agricultural stuff like farm trailers, 5mm is about as thin as you want to go, even then you can end up filling holes you've blown through. You can do some neat work with practice.......as it goes, I've never had a go with a mig welder!

Re: Just when i thought it was going well

You could pick a telescopic magnet up for about a £1, Tesco do them in the "keep it handy" section. They look thin enough to get down an oil way, chances are, it wont of moved very far as the engine hasnt run, Im guessing youve dropped a collet? number 23 in the pic is the thing. I've sho...

Just when i thought it was going well

Thought as my cav is off the road for a bit, I'd treat it to a new cam belt and all that goes along with it, then i thought as its now done 100k I may as well change the head gasket as I'm loosing water but can't find a leak anywhere, and just when all was going well, one of the little round things ...

just get a mate to put a bid in at a price you don't want it to go less than, can back fire though, if your mate wins the bidding you will have to pay a final selling fee, but better than selling it too cheap!
