are you 100% sure its the gear box? I had a rumbling noise after changing the discs and pads on the cav turned out to be the catch plate (on the back of the disc) was pushed in too far - see if thats the problem.

Nope, not 8 certainly. Make sure you soak the bolts on the rear shockers with a good penetrating fluid too and have an empty boot - it helps alot! If you pop up one weekend I'll give you a hand. Test it with a multimeter, testing the output to see if its higher than normal (should be around 14v if I recall) if it is - overcharging might cause this issue.

Well Sorry to disapoint you two, But "Cavy", is the name of my of my cavalier. My 2 Toyota avensis's where 1st one called "Avy" and my newest one "Toya" So I'll keep calling my cavalier "Cavy" as that is her name. But I never discribe other cavaliers as Cavy'...

As for the Vectra lock, once you've done one they are pretty easy really Lock barrel is probably the easiest bit one you work out what your doing too
