Re: Wiring Up A Fuel Computer - Discussion Thread.

Just something I was pondering. Does anyone know if the harness connecting the display module to the main loom is the same on other GM models? If so it widen the scope for me finding one!

Re: Doors Sill rubbers? Should they stay or should they go?

The driver's side one on mine has come away at the front but there is no hint of rust. It's just that the channel has popped off over the mounting pins. How are you supposed to remove and fit them? Do they slide off or snap over the pins?
Thanks for looking.

Re: Interior lamp not working...

I have exactly the same interior lights problem as snowy on my recently acquired CD. I need to get to the connector near the gear lever. My car is an auto so:- Is there a connector there on an auto? What's the easiest way to get to it? What's the route of the wiring once it heads off towards the lig...

Re: Bonnet rubber anti rattle plugs & door mirrors.

Robsey thanks for the suggestion. I'm afraid that scrapyards that have older vehicles are a bit thin on the ground around here. There is one out at Shaftesbury which may be able to help so I will have a go there.
Thanks again.

Re: Bonnet rubber anti rattle plugs & door mirrors.

Hello Cavalier 342. My CD has black trim along the top of the doors and the triangular mirror panels. If I could get one of a different colour I can change it using a product that I have used before from Rainbow Paints on the Ferndown Industrial Estate. My CD has electric mirrors unlike my LS which ...

Re: 2.0 8v slow idle

Robsey, thanks for your assistance. The link was very interesting. I have only recently re- started my interest in Cavaliers hence my frequent requests for information. I feel quite guilty about raiding your time and knowledge. Now, if you need to know anything about Morris Minors (1948 onwards) I h...

Bonnet rubber anti rattle plugs & door mirrors.

I'm not sure what these things are actually called but if you lift the bonnet there are four (two each side) rubber"things" that sit where the wing joins the inner wing. The idea is to stop the bonnet rattling but there are two missing on my CD so it rattles. What are these things called a...

Re: 2.0 8v slow idle

Phoned them, alas not available. They tried their connections but no luck. I went on line and found one in Moscow and some in South America. I tried Vauxhall Green Parts but no luck there either. Then amazing luck. I phoned the person who bought the remaining stock from the Ex Vauxhall Dealer in Swa...

2.0 8v slow idle

Robsey, my CD 2.0 8v has a very low tickover speed, it's about 650. Yes it has the black octane plug. Do you happen to have a part number for the yellow one? I was going to try Auto Vaux but would be interested in any suggestions.

Re: Trip computer

Iangsi, I have been fortunate to get the switch and loom. I did not realize that they were hard to find. If I hear of another one I will pass on the contact details. Actually the person breaking the car did not know what the switch was for. It was Robsey's explanation that alerted me to the need for...

Re: Trip computer

Yes Robsey, my car has the connectors near the clock and window regulators. Just to make sure that I get the complete set of plugs from the vendor so that I can plug it in to existing loom can you tell me how many there should be. I found an original 1994 brochure last night and sure enough it was a...

Re: Trip computer

Thanks again Robsey for an swift, amazingly comprehensive reply. Yes, my CD does have the digital clock and temperature readout so it's looking hopeful. I have a mate who served his apprenticeship at a local independent Vauxhall dealer many years ago and he services my Vauxhalls and the Cortina. Hav...

I have seen one of these for sale which came from a GSI. It has the plug and wire. How easy would it be to fit to my 94 2.0 8v CD?

Re: Fitting afternarket heated seat pads

Robsey, Sorry to trouble you. If I could ask just one more question about the wiring. Am I right in thinking that the illumination wires (grey/green) should be wired to the panel lights? I have now obtained a switch panel with the two plugs and am planning a dry run with the heating elements on the ...

Re: Exhaust part numbers

Thanks Alan, my French is ok but the English translation is much more relaxing! I had a look on that site but it seems that the pipe for my car is only available from an overseas seller with a long delivery time, not to mention the cost. Perhaps that's because it's an auto. There is a UK supplied su...

Handbrake return springs

On replacing the handbrake cables I have been told that they should have assister return springs that run to the backplates. The car is a 94 2.0 8v with rear disc brakes.

Any thoughts, suggestions or part numbers gratefully received.

Exhaust part numbers

I have just been told by the person servicing my CD Cavalier that the middle pipe and silencer needs replacing. There seems some doubt amongst suppliers locally as to the correct part because my car is an auto. Can anyone let me know the Vauxhall part numbers for my system? If I could get the number...
