I don't know about the manufacturer of the grill - it came from a website in Germany via ebay in 2016.iangsi wrote:Is that grill one of those FK jobbies ? Do those new front fogs work ?
Yes, of course the fogs work!

Dunno, but 16 and 17 remind me of the clamps used to link the wiring looms in the centre console by the gearstick.

Great write up - just looking at the photos of the gaskets made by back ache - the times I spent faffing with that V6 engine!
Lucky find with those centre cap covers! I’ve just had my alloys refurbed so have ‘lost’ the logos, but more on that in my own thread.

Either would be good - not been to Chatham, so that would be of more interest to me, plus the namesake... Pity we cannot meet in a more central location so the most active members can all meet without some doing the lion's share of driving. Perhaps a meet at the Heritage Centre? Could Dan wangle som...

The current bumper has some heavy scratches and the acquisition of the CDX bumper was done along with other parts so no great effort was made. I'll have a facelift and and old GLS bumper to dump soon, along with the current cloth interior when I swap to leather.

Did so and checked breather pipes - clear, checked vacuum hose -...

Re: 1994 Cavalier LSi C20NE (was C18NZ) Work-horse
In my experience, modern batteries do not recover well from periods of inactivity or drainage. I killed two batteries in the V6 by both methods. In contrast the older style battery (where you topped it up yourself) in my Escort lasted years and had all kinds of abuse from teenage stereo systems, fau...

Re: Lowrider Dave - 1994 GLS (Archer)
I took the wife's car to work yesterday to give the Cav a chance to cool down and the ICV to 'settle' - tried again this morning, it turns, sparks but won't fire without a touch of right foot and doesn't idles, revs just drop like a stone and it stalls. I tried a few time - the same. I hope the new ...

Re: James' 2.0 8v Diplomat
The scrap yard was all a bit officious; they had standardised prices for everything and no haggling. Yes, sadly most scrappies are nowadays - sometimes I get lucky but most know that parts are sort after. Anyway, I took the Diplomat in today for it's repairs. Should be back on the road by next week...

Re: Lowrider Dave - 1994 GLS (Archer)
Yes, the hoses were new replacements at the same time as the ICV. It's only just started playing up when the engine is hot/used more than twice in a day. I need it to get to and from work and if it's not going to play ball then I'll have to get something else. I will try a new ICV and double check a...

Re: Lowrider Dave - 1994 GLS (Archer)
Bah! having hot start problems big time. Today being hot outside, the car didn't cool much during work, when I went to leave I had to throttle it a bit until it idled okay, I went to Physio and when I came out it would not idle and even trying to start it again sounded slightly laboured. I tried abo...

Excellent work Robsey - great write up on cleaning the switch, I may even attempt mine. Out of interest the LED never lit up on my V6 when I used the de-mister.
I'm still trying my ICV - will give it another clean (although it's pretty new and clean) and perhaps try 'oiling' it.
