Re: C20NE Loom Rebuild
I've not yet tried a new one, because they're still insanely expensive compared to the 1.8 variant. IF anyone has a spare I could try at the meet, I'm up for it.

Re: C20NE Loom Rebuild
I'm slowly working through all the nightmare that is the electrical control system on these things, mainly because the damn thing runs absolutely fine before the ECU kicks in. Something isn't reporting correct values to the ECU, and thus is presumably causing it to stick in cold start. There have be...

Re: C20NE Loom Rebuild
I'm a twonk. Had the multimeter on too low a setting, so of COURSE it'll read open line when trying to read something magnitudes higher. The good news is that after retesting, it's all fine. The bad news is that I'm still an idiot, and it's not the magic cure I'd hoped. But the OTHER good new is she...

Re: C20NE Loom Rebuild
Ok, woke up some, now I've had a good look at this particular information , I see I have a yellow plug, which SHOULD have one side at infinite ohms for the 91 RON program (basic program, the 'resistance' is correct), and the other side should be at 2200 ohms for the basic program at 95 RON (this is ...

Re: C20NE Loom Rebuild
So... progress! After pondering the idea of bypassing the CTS and rigging up a resistor to emulate an engine already up to temp, I decided to first check the wiring diagrams to see if it was as straightforward as I hoped. Hmm, odd? The octane plug is in series with the CTS? How does this work then? ...

Re: C20NE Loom Rebuild
Ok, so with the looming MoT coming up, and the embuggerance of having to try and run more wires through sealed bulkhead grommets, I'm going with the shortcut idea of placing a 330 ohm resistor between the associated pins (after disconnecting the CTS), and fool the engine into thinking it's at around...

Re: C20NE Loom Rebuild
Ahh, I should have mentioned... that was just the wires themselves (shorted the connector with a small jumper, and checked the resistance of the wiring after detaching the plug from the ECU). If the wiring resistance is remaining high, it may cause the engine to remain in it's initial choke conditio...

C20NE Loom Rebuild
So... I'm running out of ideas for the poor running of the 1.8 and the 2.0, and barring mechanical failure in the engine itself (a horrifying thought...), my attention turns to the wiring. I do recall checking the continuity of the CTS circuit and finding that checked ok, but the resistance on it wa...

Re: EuroFlo exhausts
Yep, looks like the amazing quality I got when I bought Euroflo crap too. Oddly, the back box IS a Bosal, which surprised me, looks quite similar to yours. The midpipe and CAT unit are Euro though, and fart worse than the leaky pipe they replaced. Something ain't right, and although it's quietened d...

Re: Cable's Thread of Ongoing Misery
Well, apart from the exhaust sounding like it's about to shake itself to bits (never cheap out!), nothing has gotten any worse. However, I DID score a nice brand new set of injectors on the Fleabay for 160 notes, MUCH cheaper than retail (yet still from MPD... strange...). I'll be fitting those the ...

Re: Wits end CO Emissions
Just a thought, because I'm having similar problems... could it be due to a naff fuel pressure regulator? If the springs become weak, wouldn't is allow too much fuel to be burnt for the volume of air it's taking in, leading to incomplete combustion and increased CO readings? I had that particular fl...

Cheers Robsey, I always forget about Ecat. I'm pondering getting some silicone hose to replace all the rubber vac lines, just needed the ID of the pipes in question. Now I can get the right stuff, hopefully!

Re: Cavalier 2.0 Petrol, C20NE, Running Problem
Just to jump in with another question for the gurus, what are the diameters of vac pipes present on the C20NE? Looking to change all of mine at some point, was wondering if they're all the same or various sizes.

Re: Cable's Thread of Ongoing Misery
No, the two cars are completely separate, it's just the problem is present on them both. The 2.0 is from a MK3 L reg, so post-facelift.
I'm just hoping what eventually fixes one fixes them both...

Re: Cable's Thread of Ongoing Misery
AAAAARRRRRRRGH! So, I got me a nice 2.0i as noted before, and wouldn't you bloody believe it? The damned thing has the same sodding issue, low idle RPM with what sounds like misfires (thudding noise from the exhaust every so often). I've changed the plugs, no dice. Cleaned out the ICV, nada. Today w...

Re: Can it be removed or blocked and how?
Lastly, don't leave the vac pipe connection at the carb/SPI end open! Stupid things happen when Cavs have vac leaks... like stupid people thinking it's something else entire...
