Not a very ceremonious way of retrieving it...I guess they figured it was no good now anyway...another old Vauxhall gone then.

Re: timing belts
Thanks guys.... I am more a fan of chain driven engines myself... never quite sure who's bright idea it was to make something so vital to the engine out of rubber! My 2001 Frontera was a chain-driven diesel, but that was the same engine as the 2.2 Vectra I believe. And all the Mark 1 Cavs i owned ha...

Hello James. New myself. Mine is a 1994 LS TD with double your mileage! LOL. But i think yours might be the same colour. Looks green, but a touch of blue, like aqua. I think the previous owner said it was classed as a blue... can't remember the proper name for it though. Lovely motor, and yes, a bar...

Re: where have all the cavaliers gone?
when I lived in Southampton a few years back, I used to see quite a few... but haven't seen one where I live now for a long time. Very sad... I can remember the first time I saw a Mark 3 soon after they came out. I had my Mrk1 at the time, and it was quite something. Had to wipe the drool off my chi...

Re: new vauxhall ad
they didn't have an FB Victor either... the least they could do is show all the models they have made. I like the Mrk 2 Cav jumping over all those Fords though. hehehe.

Re: WHAT LURKS BENEATH...
I have owned three mark 1 Cavs, and they all had cast heads... good job too as i cooked one of the engines a few times!
But I still wouldn't fancy taking this on... except to the scrap yard!
Hope to goodness there isn't a body in the boot!

Re: MOTs
I've had a few real stinker MOT's...November 2007 and November 2009. However I have always told my garage to do whatever is needed, but that doesn't mean he takes the rip. Dave is a good lad, and often comes up with good suggestions, apart from last year when he said that I ought to scrap the Caval...

Thanks for that, Andrei. Most kind of you to look that up for me. And i guess one for the petrol engines would cover everything else, like bodywork, running gear, etc?

Re: Yet another Newbie. :-)
Thanks for the welcome, people. Looking forward to getting to know you. Cavalier 342 (Andrei), on the subject of looking after my Cav, have been onto eBay looking for a Haynes manual... but not so easy when you have an Isuzu diesel under the bonnet. Should I be looking for the workshop manual of som...

Yet another Newbie. :-)
Hi there from the Deep South of Hampshire..... Learned to drive and passed my test in a 1964 Vauxhall Victor. Later on I had a 1973 Viva estate. Then progressed on to Cavaliers. Have owned several Mark 1 Cavaliers in my time - my fave being a jade green coupe. Tough as old boots he was... he had a h...
