Bloody hell Rob, I've just had a catch up! You've got some hours in this between you and Troy haven't you, looks like you are getting somewhere though.

Re: V6 immobiliser/ignition problem
The remote fob type immobiliser on the 94 models works on the ignition side by cutting the ignition feed to the ecu. If it's armed (or not disarmed) the eml doesn't light. It is relatively straightforward to remove, you just need to trace the black wires back and remake the spliced joints, but from ...

The only one I ever had with a solenoid fault (one of your codes) was repaired with a replacement solenoid inside the gearbox.

Interesting that has calibrated clocks installed. Could have been a police vehicle originally if they are original.

Re: one simple question
Driven both, repaired both. No doubt the LET is an awesome engine, but it can be a pain in the arse to diagnose quickly and reliably when something goes wrong, and has more to go wrong. Personally, as much as I love it given the choice between the two I'd choose the xe.

The trick is to bend the middle towards you so that the ends get closer together and then feed the ends into place first. Then you push the middle back into position. You will be surprised at how much you can bend it.

Re: Rough running on start up.
Pop the intake pipe off and watch down the throttle body next time you start it. The injection is a clear pulse, but if it's sticking it just buckets fuel in a single stream.

It could also be the injector sticking open. I've seen a few do it.

I've browsed your stuff several times in recent years Dave. I'd love to make a living from it but I think my current skill set needs broadening for that, so I'm just treating it as supplementary at the moment.

Re: C20NE Eratic Rev Counter & No Spark
Bear in mind that if you have left the wiring connected you'll be back feeding everything on that circuit from your separate supply. Depends how you have done it really. Certainly consistent with my original suspicion though. Also worth swapping out the fuel relay, I've seen a few that only pass a l...

It makes a phenomenal difference when you are doing it because you want to, rather than because someone says you have to. There was an entry exam when I did the mot course, don't know if it's the same now. 50 questions, general vehicle mechanical knowledge. I got 49 of them right and they said it wa...

What can I add? Lot of work there, but I agree with Troy, time and money are the only limitations on what can be repaired. One thing though Troy, it doesn't matter what you do, it all changes when you have been doing it for a living for a few years.

It is one piece, rather like compressed cardboard. It would be possible to cover with care to avoid wrinkles if you can find a large enough piece of covering material.
