Re: What annoys you about your cav?
Last night he annoyed me rather....65 miles from home his wipers packed up, at night, in heavy rain and high winds. Took me three hours to do an hour journey, creeping home.

Re: rear wiper not working
My problem is the front wipers...twice now, the nut has fallen off that connects the linkage to the motor. Why now after all this time? I had to drive 65 miles last night when it did it again for the second time. Not fun in the wind and rain. My question is, should there be a washer on there to stop...

Re: What annoys you about your cav?
Love my Cav but omg does it do my head in... :wall Bloody vauxhalls do my swede in but I kinda love them for that....Sometimes do miss my tuned 205Gti though... :( From what I can gather, The Cavalier was the last reliable Vauxhall you could buy. The Vectra had a lot of issues I am told (a shame, c...

Re: What annoys you about your cav?
(and why has the interior light not got an on/off switch!!? ) It does, you pull the headlight switch towards you, and push it back to switch it off. Bl**dy hell...really? LOL. Thanks. :) I remember my first car, a 64 Victor...I thought the dashboard lights had gone (bought it light that), but once ...

Re: What annoys you about your cav?
Just niggly little things really....like the interior light only works on the passenger door...(and why has the interior light not got an on/off switch!!? ). My headlamp warning buzzer has packed up, so I stuff my window wiping cloth in the door handle to remind me to switch the lights off....I have...

Re: Why do u love cav's and why u own one ?
Another Vauxhall nut here...started out with a 1964 Victor, then a Viva....fell off the wagon a bit when I got a couple of bargain Talbots, then got a lovely Mk1 Cav Coupe. When the tinworm killed him off, I drove the old man's Shogun, and got a couple more after that, and then it was back to Vauxha...

Re: Somones done a chart of something
There was an article a while back, how, builders still build garages alongside modern houses to the specifications of a 1960's Ford Cortina. So clearly, not many modern cars are going to fit inside. Crazy.

Re: Well, that's that then. Winter's here; no more driving C
Humbucker, thank goodness there are some who can do this...those will be the Cavs that live to see another 10-20 years, when the rest of us have had to weigh ours in due to rust. My Cav is only a workhorse, but he is a reliable old plodder who I appreciate (and his rear arches are so far intact), an...

Re: How much you spent on cars in your time of driving.
I couldn't begin to calculate what I have spent on the maintaining of my cars since 1983, when I passed my test, but I remember how much I paid for them. 1964 Vauxhall Victor FB...£225. 1973 Vauxhall Viva....£90. 1981 Talbot Alpine....£95. 1979 Talbot Alpine....£100 1979 Vauxhall Cavalier Mk 1 Coupe...

Re: red fuse behind the light swtch?
Put your tongue behind your teeth and go bzzzzzzzz whenever you open the door, then it'll remind you to check the light switch? Does the interior light come on when you open the door? Are all the fuses ok? Yes, all fuses ok. Interior light works. Mechanic reckons the actual buzzer must be dead. He ...

Re: GSI rear light cluster
I saw a back panel for a GSi somewhere, in Nautilus Blue, and fancied not having to worry about when my (LS) rear reflectors finally break (very cracked at the moment). Would a panel from a GSi fit a hatchaback LS? He wanted £40 for it. I have located a good back panel from a hatchback for £30 WITH ...

Re: The forgotten 1.6 engines
If I didn't have a TD, I would have one of those early 1.6's....reliability and economy are more important to me than power. :) Yeah they are pretty cool but you have to remember when driving them they aren't a 2.0 LOL like I keep forgetting she's taking a pounding. And they aren't as brilli...

It was a lovely car, and tough as old boots. They do come up on the rare occasion on eBay. Last one was about 2 grand. I would love another, but I haven't anywhere indoors to keep one, and it would be criminal to let it live outside.
