Re: The end of an Era - Cavaliers are going to the scrapper!!

Woohoo...
Mechanic says that the car will pass it's test now...

After he fixed the fuel line, he was able to run the car fine.
Only extra work, was a "burst brake line"...

Will get the cav back next week.. :)

Re: Cavalier Headunit ISO Wiring

Just noticed that the diagram says that pin 5 (Blue/Red - ABS wheel speed signal for speed dependent volume control) is for the SC804... Strange though as my Grundig SC303 Tape Radio and later my CD300 CD Radio both had this function and connection. And just for info, this ISO layout continues on al...

Re: The end of an Era - Cavaliers are going to the scrapper!!

The Mk2 is a 1300 base model with masses of extra ventilation in the rear inner arches and drivers side rear door frame. The engine is the 13s with electronic ignition...not been run since 2002 Gave up on the idea of fixing this when some scrote pulled the wing mirrors off behind my house...was show...

Re: MOT failure :(

Thanks for your generous offer, but I just can't get up-there at the moment. my garage quoted about £135 per side for cutting out the old sills, and welding in the new ones properly.. He was also very concerned about the "specific" flares on the fuel lines...I got the distinct impression t...

Re: The end of an Era - Cavaliers are going to the scrapper!!

My wife has said dig my heels in and fix the Mk3... after all I bought if for her for Christmas in 1995, she then gave it to me in 2005 when I bought her a Vectra C. I'd really like to do it back up, so I will just have to talk the mechanic into doing it.. The front seal is the crank shaft end seal ...

The end of an Era - Cavaliers are going to the scrapper!!

Totally gutted!! Finally had to admit defeat on my two Cavaliers. The Mk2 has been in storage for about six years and that rust just ain't going to be repairable... cav2small.jpg My Mk3 that I did the total dash conversion is going aswell. My mechanic who I've known and trusted for years told me tha...

Re: MOT failure :(

I know how you feel, both my Mk2 and Mk3 Cavs are being scrapped in the next few days.
Again due to the rust monster on the Mk2 but for the mk3 the list goes as follows...fuel pipes, both outer sills, cv boot split, fuel tank leak and blowing back box..gutted!! :cry

Putting Full CAN Infotainment in a Cavalier

To explain things...the CD30 was the wife's original radio before I fitted a colour CD70 sat-nav in her car for her... :D This is my finished dash.... The down side is that my gearstick obscures the heater controls... finished dash1.jpg Sadly, I wont be able to attend the club meet at the end of the...

Putting Full CAN Infotainment in a Cavalier

I have stirred up abit of a fuss on Vectra C.com.... There have been a lot of requests from there for wiring diagrams etc... I have recently made up a mini loom to control the radio facia and display lighting and temperature input control...this is done on post 2002 cars via a "body control mod...

the passenger side of the bumper...(assuming you mean UK right hand drive). If yours is missing, then you won't find it. Look for a pair of blue and blue/white wires with a plug on the end...these are the temperature sensor wires. Look for a pair of wires on your clock connector too...for the same t...

Re: Fuel gauge not working

Any results with this... If it is a sender fault, then disconnect the plug from sender and put a 120 ohm resister across the pins in the plug. (turn on the ignition of course..but use a decent wattage resister otherwise it will get quite hot) The gauge on the dash should register just above the red....

Re: tech1 reprogramming for opel / vx

Tech1 is opel / vauxhall only...

Software, cabling etc for this is like rocking horse doo doo!

I've been wanting to re-program my fuel computer for three years.
The only person I know that does this (Ian T) is based in the south east, and only programs cars at club meets!! in the south.

Re: air temp gauge/dash illumination

Definately just one bulb...could try uprating from1.2 watts to say 2 watts. Bulb is a T5 capless item. The heater panel is a pig to get out. Ideally you should undo the bowden cable to the left of the drivers footwell, hidden by the under-dash panel. The remove the upper steering cowling. Flex out t...

Re: stupid electric windows

If you have an intermittent fault...as it does sound like, then I would do the following: - 1) Undo the connector between the drivers and passengers front doors, and check that all pins and sockets are clean...nut rusty or full of oxidation...powdery green on copper pins, orange on steel pins. coat ...

The hot / cold slider works...lovely long cable The two smaller sliders aren't connected yet, but I'm sure that I could make up something to do this...modified cycle brake / gear cables perhaps. However I can change fan speed, turn on / off rear screen demister and said above I can vary the heat of ...

More luck than judgement :)

Thanks for the tip about the a/c bowden cables...may just need that extra length to get around the radio.
