Re: How much oil?

From memory, all steel sump family two (1.8 and 2.0, some 1.6) engines were 4ltrs, aluminum sumps 4.5.

Even the old carb engines on the mk3 had an eml, it was useless, but indicated a fault on the electronic ignition system.

I used to be able to pull the head off, strip, decoke, new seals and refit in under 2 hours. Couldn't do it now though.

A moderately firm push is enough, just make sure you can't pull it off again with any ease, it should be firml...

You won't be able to reuse the bearings mate, you'll destroy them getting them out.

That's a very short & sweet answer mr. planetc.
The question was can I, not how can I. To expand however, you'll find it easier if you remove the headlamp bulb and the sidelight bulb holder as it allows the motor to be fitted with less chance of breaking.

Re: Bad braking in my dippy

Have you eliminated the possibility that something is getting hot and giving you brake fade. I've seen cases where some bright spark has adjusted out pedal free play in the quest for a firmer pedal, which has led to everything getting tight when warm and fade causing the reduced response.

Motronic will learn fuelling and adjust within reason. Troy will have done his homework and if he is of the opinion that it will be usable in this form then I would imagine he's right.

Re: Font suspension wishbone bush

Can't really see the point in replacing all the bushes If your car is over 20 years old you need to make allowances.Besides, you ruin the character & patina acquired over time. Just because it's old it doesn't have to feel like it. Replacing bushes can be considered general maintenance and can ...
