Re: VauxFest 2023 CANCELLED !!

I'll be at this one. Probably make it a long weekend as we won't be able to go to VBOA.

I'm going to miss it this year for the first time in ten years :(
My sister in-law's wedding is on the same weekend. There's no getting out of that!

Re: Cavalier vaules

Don't underestimate the influence of the motoring press either. One popular TV presenter in particular has always been very critical of Vauxhalls. I'm with you Rob, I'd love to have a Mk2 hatchback 1.3 L, in polar white preferably! Exactly what my dad used to have. I would love a GSi or SRi because ...

Cavalier vaules

Cavalier prices seem to be creeping up. Can only be a good thing for owners and for the survival of the remaining examples out there. I think this has to be a new record though! https://www.classiccarsforsale.co.uk/vauxhall/cavalier/342004?fbclid=iwar07ptb0r8knsqowpkfajrswxpvbiwk8uu9x-qpznk0f16-mlns...

Re: Headlight manual adjuster to electric

Electric height adjustment was introduced as standard in late 1991 (before the face-lift) on every model, even the L and base models. This continued until the end of production, so every face-lift cavalier would have left the factory with electric headlamp levelling. The reason they carried on produ...

Re: Cavaliers in the snow

It probably does vary from car to car. It's only a simple air intake cut off valve. I imagine that the condition of the servo would be a factor and of course the condition of the tyres would be a big factor. My V6 is quite a late one. Registered in June 1995. Personally, I would be in the brilliant ...

Re: Cavaliers in the snow

My Cavalier V6 came with traction control which automatically cuts the throttle if the driven wheels start to slip. When going up hill in snow this is actually not helpful because at the slightest sign of wheel slip engine power dies and you come to a halt. Then its much harder, if not impossible, ...

Look it's quite simple, someone pays him to lie down and be sat on all day.
It's quite a common occupation down our way, I heard you can earn up to £80k doing it.

Re: Cavaliers in the snow

When the snow comes it's cue the usual full throttle wheel spin to try and get traction when the lightest touch of the gas pedal will do. I really can't get my head around this one, so many times I've got up a slippy hill by just feathering the throttle, and not making sudden changes in speed and d...

Train sets

Anyone else got a layout? Knole is closed at the moment because of the snow, so I had a bit of spare time today. I finally put together a proper base board and assembled all my track for the first time. https://hosting.photobucket.com/images/k554/James_Michael_McGrath/DSC_1421.JPG It's nice to have ...

Re: Cavaliers in the snow

It's quite frightening how many people seem to be totally clueless about driving on ice. I know we don't get much practice these days as snow is getting rarer, but it is embarrassing how everything comes to a standstill with just a few inches of snow. We could do with having a skid-pan section in ou...

Cavaliers in the snow

Anyone else taken their Cav out in the snow today?
I'm always surprised at how good they are over snow and ice.

There is a long steep drive where we live and about 5 other cars had got stuck on it this morning. Cavalier sailed straight past them.

My dad had a Honda exactly like that, same colour, same wheels, same engine, same spec!
Sold it to buy the Cavalier he drives now.

Quite right, I've deleted my post. As you were!

Yep, 165r13 will fit the early 1.4 and 1.6 pre-facelift MK3 Cavaliers.
I also see that you now sell 195/60r14, a bit on the expensive side for me but defiantly good to see!

Re: James' 1995 Manual CDX V6 Saloon

So, the MOT wasn't disastrous or anything. It failed of course but only on a split CV boot which was a easy fix. The real issue was this advisory: "Offside Rear boot floor corroded but not within 30cm of load bearing area" OH, FFFF..... Yep, that needs attention: https://hosting.photobucke...

Re: James' 1995 Manual CDX V6 Saloon

Picking up right from where I left off, we start this post in March 2020. I was feeling pretty good about the V6 at this point; it had just had it's wheel arches sorted out, a lot of the bodge jobs done by the previous owner had been remedied and it was running well. But it still had some niggles to...

Re: Fuel starvation on full throttle

Is it on your 1.8? Yeah, the fuel pressure will be lower than 2.5 bar. Probably around 1.5 to 2 bar I reckon. As Robsey said, it could just be the engine not being able to respond quick enough to the sudden opening of the throttle. On these engines there is only a inlet vacuum gauge (MAP sensor) and...
