Re: steering related knock
thanks gaz, will do. You may have a point actually, last year that joint was playing up, everytime i turned right on full lock, it used to make a groan/rumbling sound. I solved that by putting more grease in it, and its been fine since. But i guess it might have got a bit worn out :scratch Cheers. :...

Re: Raising ground clearance
Thanks Gaz
Front springs are as they should be, but because its only riding on 14" wheels with small tyres, its too low to the ground. Thats why i want some bigger wheels really, to make it sit higher.
cheers

Re: EXHAUST REAR BOX
it can be a pain but if you twist the box either way hard enough then pull the rubber bracket up and down and over the exhaust hook, if will eventually loosen off. As angryman said, WD-40 or some oil will help.

Re: Hi new here,,cavalier hessitating problem
I'm sure the good old trusty Cav wont let you down. Hopefully you wouldnt have to resort to parting with it :wave Not a bad idea on the crank sensor, mine has played up before, especially during the cold months. it made the rev gauge go funny and display much higher revs than the engine was actually...

Re: Hi new here,,cavalier hessitating problem
Not sure about the Co2 machine results. If the car's a 95 plate, i'm sure it'll have the 16NZ engine. The SZ would apply to pre-facelift Mk3;s. I'm gathering that because my 1.8 is a facelifted and the engine is an 18NZ, and the prefacelift engine is an 18SV. As for a solution, i'm quite stumped. I'...

well that would sound almost like faulty injectors or fuel pump. Tried giving her a nice long run with plenty of fuel additive? Cant put my mind on what it could be.

Hey guys :wave Just thought id share this in case it leads to work needing to be done :scratch Basically, i'm not sure what, but something makes a knocking sound when i sometimes turn a right bend and the front nearside wheel negotiates a bump or a pothole for instance. When it knocks, i always happ...

Re: Hi new here,,cavalier hessitating problem
hmm ye. Well as far as i can dig into my brain, (which isnt very far to dig) i would assume its either the ECU itself or maybe some sensor playing up but it hasnt picked up a fault code. Its a number of things really
Well i hope it gets sorted anywho

Re: Not sure what a 1.8 Club is?
Thanks Anita :) I figured that one out from my old Citroen ZX. There were the standard trims, Avantage, Aura, Volcane, etc, but mine was a Neon :? basically a 3 door "made to look sporty but with no gadgets" trim level  So i figured the Cavaliers had the same thing, but with the...

Re: Hi new here,,cavalier hessitating problem
Hi mate Just a wild guess, but could it be the engine ECU itself? It sounds like you've checked over all the possible suspects and it sounds to me like its something electrical now Just a thought

Re: Not sure what a 1.8 Club is?
Hey mate Its one of those special edition type trim levels. I'm not sure about specs wise, but i think it'll be an 8V, as its a 1.8 block, and only the SRi's had the 16 valves.

Re: stupid electric windows
Well i've never mucked about with them but i would imagine like most other parts, giving it a live 12V wire feed should make it work. I'm not very technically minded, but i'm trying to think. I hope someone else knows more than me mate.

Raising ground clearance
Hey all :wave I really want to raise my Cavalier up a bit. It's too low to the ground in my opinion. At the moment it's got the standard 14" steels with the bog standard 195/60's. I'm thinking 15" steels with higher profile tyres. Now, as far as i was aware, 15" was the limit for stee...

Make a new topic, call it spotted or something, and for each member who spots another member, drop a post this wont work for members who live next to each other, but for others it would be fun What does everyone think?

Re: knocking cv
Well mine used to knock shortly after i bought the car, so what i did is got underneath with some CarLube grease, found the CV joint gaiter closest to the wheel, snapped off the cable tie, then with a grease gun, i put plenty of grease inside the gaiter, and closed it up again. Worked fine ever since.

Re: stupid electric windows
If the motors are ok, check all electric contacts, fuses, wiring etc. Make sure its all solid and rigged up and give everything a bit of WD-40.
my best advice.

Re: stupid electric windows
Might just be the motors that are seized up a bit. If moisture or dampness gets inside, it can corrode some parts and mess up electric connections. If i were to play my card, i'd remove the door panels just to have a peek Hope this helps mate
