Re: How cheap is petrol...
All unleaded sold in the uk has to conform to BS EN 228, supermarkets won't be any different. If their fuel was truely rubbish there would be millions of cars broken down at the side of the road, including my 206, the mrs 206 and the V6.l have been using supermarket petrol in all my cars & bikes ...

Could the puffing exhaust be a burnt out valve?
Try a compression test or leakdown test.

Re: Do you turn off engine at lights to save fuel?
Had a look on the net, general consensus is any idling longer than 10secs (or up to 60secs depending on whose report you read) will use more fuel than switching off and restarting. Thing is , unless you are at a set of traffic lights, how do you know how long you are going to be stationary? Need some...

Re: Failed the MOT
We had a Focus that failed on hydrocarbons, eventually traced it to a split breather hose.Of course this was after changing the air filter, plugs and lambda at first to no avail. We also disconnected the battery overnight to reset the ecu and after replacing the breather hose it passed ok. Id check ...

Re: My other cars are GTI's
Had to do the clutch on the black GTI today,we used it to go to Cornwall the other month and it started squeaking in the clutch area while we were there.Got back ok and took it off the road until I could fix it.Read up on a 206 forum that this noise leads onto the clutch totally failing. So took the...

Re: 3.0 V6 Cav
Cav must have known it was coming off the road today as the starter has given up.My fault as I continued to run it with the knackered ring gear,if only it had lasted one more day,
Off the road now until next March I think.

Cavalier nightmare
Been no posts on this section of the forum for nearly two weeks?? Is everyone on holiday? Anyway, had a dream/nightmare last night that I drove the Cav off road over a trench and the thing folded in two.I woke up and really thought it had happened and was quite concerned for the old V6.Had to get up ...

Re: 3.0 V6 Cav
Sounds like you fixed the flywheel then? :) Wouldn't worry too much, still seems very respectable considering :) No have carried on running it as it is, bit noisey on starting thats all. I'm taking it off the road at the end of the month as the 6 months tax will run out, will fix it over the winter...

Re: 3.0 V6 Cav
Took the V6 along to the Pod today, haven't been for nearly 3 years. Bit disappointed with the results, only managed a 15.3 @90 mph which is 0.9 secs down on my best. :scratch Put this down to a few factors; Didn't get chance to fit my track wheels which are smaller diameter and so lowers the overall ...

Re: 3.0 V6 Cav
Contacted Courtenay, not a massive amount of help I'm afraid. I found an old std FW and tapped the ring gear off, will get my L/W one off and measure the two up,if all is good will heat the ring gear and bung the FW in the freezer when MrsCav6 isn't looking and pop them together. Looks like my weekend...

Investigated a noise that has developed on cranking and found a couple of teeth missing on my Courtenay L/W flywheel, :( :( :( Will give them a ring tomorrow and see if I can get a new ring gear for it. Hoping its the same as a std VX part. http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i253/iancav6/20140803_165...

Re: 3.2 v6 conversion
Standalone management would be ideal, but the 2.5's Motronic ECU would work as it's adaptive. Can't map it as such, but running the engine in should alter fuelling to suit. Then, revised map could be saved to a Tech1 as a snapshot so that it can be loaded back on to ECU without having to run it in ...

Re: 3.2 v6 conversion
Aright, which one would you recommend? Im a total novice when it comes to v6 engines. I'd use the std 3.2 manifold.will take a bit of work to get it going, but at least its the right spec for the engine. Humbucker, not sure I'd use the 2.5 ecu, it will make it run but mapping will not be ideal. The ...
