Please can someone post a picture of where the rear window wiper spindle comes out of the boot lid I think mine is missing a rubber boot as it looks like water can get in.
Thanks.

Re: James' 2.0 8v Diplomat
Nice fix engine sounds really good for 170K!
I have got to do the cam belt, water pump & idler when the warmer weather gets here. I first need to play with my MK2 and get it ready for its MOT and for the summer months.
Nice job!

Re: James' 2.0 8v Diplomat
Ok I unplugged the ICV and it does idle allot more consistently. Only thing is it's slower not faster, it idles at a very steady 550rpm rather than the usual 850-900ish rpm. I'm only guessing but this makes sense if the ICV can't close all the way due to crud I believe these can be cleaned out with...

Re: James' 2.0 8v Diplomat
It's not that bad. It just doesn't seem to stay at a perfectly constant RPM when idling. It fluctuates up and down by maybe 50 RPM or less but it's enough to be audible to my ears. I'll unplug the ICV and see what happens. I need to do the same with mine as when it's warm the idle hunts up and down...

Re: Steven715's MK3 Cavalier CDX
Welcome to the forum! :wave Looks in great condition. Good spec too. Dynax s50 is terrific stuff, I use it myself along with their Hydrate 80 rust converter. My family had a 1984 1.3 MK2 L hatch in polar white when I was growing up. I'll never forget it, it's the car that got me interested in cars ...

Definitely a keeper I looked at 3 Cavaliers before I found a good solid one and one of them was like a swimming pool inside

Wow that does look high I take it it's only with the saloons? I wonder if it's just less weight at the back compared to the hatchback.James McGrath wrote:I think most are like that.

Re: Steven715's MK3 Cavalier CDX
Hi Steven Looks like a very nice example and on a N plate too, good catch! I always say to any cavy owner, if it's not already been done, is to make sure you clean the muck out from under the rear arch lips and up where the tank filler is, as well as the muck dirt and stones from the front crossmem...

Re: Steven715's MK3 Cavalier CDX
I am not going to hog your thread much further about the mk2. (Although you are more than welcome to open another thread in the other car section if you like). Just to say - I assume yours is a Varajet carb. I had the 1.3 with 2e3 carb. Manual steering and windows - only glimpse of powered was the ...

Re: Cable's Thread of Ongoing Misery
What I would try is with the engine running use a propane touch without it being lit and put it near the vacuum hoses especially near any bends or where the vacuum hose terminates, your looking for a change in engine note this would indicate that there is a vacuum leak of some kind I hope this makes...

Re: Steven715's MK3 Cavalier CDX
Welcome to the forum. Nice looking car. Appears to be in very good condition. Not sure why, but that number plate looks familiar. Maybe once belonged to previous forum member. To be honest, the mk2 is my favourite car, and the engines are just awesome. I had a 1987 1.3 base for about 10 years - bli...
