Re: Antifreeze Ponderings...

I've always used Bluecol and changed if after a couple of years, I would rather use the (red) one but was of the understanding it was corrosive to brass parts?
The only brass parts I can think of is the heater?

Looks like it's coming through the bulkhead? It would be worth removing the plastic scuttle panel to investigate underneath.

Re: Badge restoration - Zen Graphics

When I got my Astra it had a CDX badge missing from the door trim, couldn't find one anywhere at the time. So I removed the one that was present and made a silicone mold from it into which I cast an araldite resin mix (slow cure). Once cured I was able to remove the letters and after some 'fettling'...

I think there's a few of us in the same boat, I only tax mine for 'summer' use the rest of the time it hides under a cover which seems to do a pretty good job protecting it from the worst of the elements. Have thought about moving it on although having had it since 1996 I do feel attached to it! Doe...

Nice, always liked these big Vauxhall's.
When these first came out my first experience of them was as an Airport Transfer car to Heathrow being transported from Southend - luxury travel!

Re: Matts CDX - Work In Progress.

That reminds me when I had just 'brimmed' the tank in my old MK2 Astra Estate. Paid in the kiosk and returning to the car I could see an ever growing puddle must have been 4ft diameter! Bad news. Quick peer underneath and it could be seen that the bottom of the tank had a problem so drove about 4 mi...

Re: E10 petrol suitability

I have an E10 stabiliser which is supposed to prevent/reduce it's water absorption which will help with tank corrosion. I did however fill up with super today just to see if there would be any change in running, the nozzle was one that would trigger at the slightest splashback and I did get some on ...

LED headlights

Took my daily MK4 Astra Estate for MOT today. About 3 years ago I replaced the H7 dipped beam halogen bulbs for led's bought from bettercarlighting. These gave a great spread of crisp light especially noticeable in wet conditions, they needed adjustment for beam height and horizontal position so are...

Re: 1989 Opel Vectra GT

Not sure if it's country wide but certainly round here on faster/bigger roads it's quite common to see painted squares on the carriageway the idea being that a police officer can view a vehicle (with binoculars) when passing over a square, and start a stopwatch. Then when passing the next, spaced at...

Interesting about the foam - I've had both arch liners out to apply wax but don't remember ever seeing any foam sections?

I changed my hose a few years back and our local parts store would only sell it in lengths that were miles too short (he said something about elf and safety?!)
Ended up buying 2 and had to put a join in it.

Re: Southern english drivers

Totally agree the standard of driving has really gone downhill. My biggest gripe is the tailgaters, utter morons.
Next would be the numpty that swings across from an outside lane to reach an exit.
Thought it might be 'fun' to get something 'solidly built' and just enjoy some of these situations!
