Re: Fuel starvation on full throttle

Is it on your 1.8? Yeah, the fuel pressure will be lower than 2.5 bar. Probably around 1.5 to 2 bar I reckon. As Robsey said, it could just be the engine not being able to respond quick enough to the sudden opening of the throttle. On these engines there is only a inlet vacuum gauge (MAP sensor) and...

Re: VBOA 22nd to 24th July 2022

My pleasure, glad you liked them. Nice, seems to be lots of space around the calibra stand Clun Calibra always gets gives a massive stand. They normally do quite elaborate displays with jacked up cars and mirrors but this year was very tame. What a great array of pictures - and the quality was excel...

Re: Fuel Prices getting out of hand

That 159.9p/l price was a tesco in Suffolk when I was there on holiday a couple of weeks ago. Real bargain and 10p cheer than the next petrol station I came across.

Sorry guys, over two months late but better late than never! Firstly I have to apologise for quality of some of these photos. i stupidly forgot my DSLR and had to take all of these on my phone. :wall This year was slightly different for us from recent years, not only because the Cavalier and Chevett...

Looks like prices are beginning to calm. Paid 159.9p per litre the other day, bargain!
May be time to give the V6 a run for the first time since March!

Anyone else coming to this?
I was planning to go and camp Saturday night. However, looks like you can only book to stay 3 nights (Fri, Sat, Sun) so the cost is prohibitive.

Still going to go but maybe only for 1 day.

Re: Fuel starvation on full throttle

Any progress with this?
Could be a fuel pump issue. Might be worth testing the fuel pressure. Should be 2.5 bar at the fuel rail from memory.
I had terrible problems on my Dad's 2.0 CD with this, this sounds similar.

How many miles has it done?

Re: Heatwave!!!

The weather was crazy today. Felt like being blown in the face with a hair dryer at full power! It's still 28 degrees in our bedroom at gone midnight. Everyone's cars OK? Put a few towels over the windows of mine today. Was worried that the heat would start the headlining sagging or crack the dashbo...

Re: VBOA 22nd to 24th July 2022

Are there any VBOA clubs left, seems to have lost meaning with vauxhall, or is it just a legacy name now. It's not at all a legacy name. There is a thriving community of clubs that belong to the VBOA. The VBOA itself however is on rocky ground at the moment. There have been some poor decisions made...

Re: Soo...parts hoarding

I could do with having a jolly good sort out. I have had a few half hearted attempts over the years but never got further than grouping all the parts of each type together. I'd like to do a full inventory on a spreadsheet. Then if I find myself needing a part I can check easily if I already have it....

Re: Fuel Prices getting out of hand

What I don't understand is that the UK produces about 90% of it's own oil from the North Sea.
I know it's sold on an open global market but surely it should affect us less than elsewhere.

Original shock absorbers

I need to replace the top mounts Lizzie's CD as they have started knocking so I thought I'd get the shock absorbers replaced at the same time. I really like the way the car rides, it's extremely good on the rough pot-hole ridden roads around this area so I don't want to change the way it feels. I sp...

Re: V6 exhaust parts

In theory there should just be one part for the centre section. It's only the back box that is different between the saloon and hatchback. I just got a stainless section made up bespoke when I got mine done. Couldn't find any genuine parts and a bespoke part wasn't that expensive, I think about £120...

Re: Radio replacement conundrum

I think that I must be an old fart... I simply cannot be bothered with the radio. I am totally bored of commercials or the generic teenage angst or gangster rap drivel that fills the radio stations. The 80s were my formative era, but even that bores me now. (Was that the 1880s?? - lol). I would rat...

I have a Klarius back box on Lizzie's 2.0i 8v.
Seems decent enough. I put it on there about 3 months ago and it still looks shiny so the corrosion protection on them must be fairly good at the very least.
