Re: Cavaliers in the snow

Had about 2 or 3cms of snow here (Southend area) and was watching 'drivers' sliding down a local hill - all wheels locked just going where the hill took them until stopped by kerb or lamp post or the cars that were already stopped!
They didn't have a clue.

Moving in the right direction! Always a good feeling when things start to take shape, especially outer panel work - nice!

Re: James' 1995 Manual CDX V6 Saloon

Great posts James! Looking after vehicles is a full time job as there's always something that needs replacing/fixing or tidying up. Nice job on the A pillars, I chose to paint mine (and headlining) using an artex stipple roller but remember the mess removing the dried up adhesive from the headlining...

Re: Rant Of The Day - Grrrrr !!!

Totally agree about lead free solder, horrible stuff luckily I'm still working my way through a 1kg reel of multicore! Real creosote is still available for agricultural use - my mate buys it in 5 gallon drums. I know it is now been banned for many years but we at work used to use a huge vapour clean...

Re: M Plate 1.8LS Saloon

When I bought my CD back in '96 I gave it the 'once over' injecting everywhere I thought needed it and the complete underside with waxoyl or dinitrol. At that time I also unscrewed the adjusters as they looked very 'open' and candidates for future trouble, I reassembled with waxoyl. I had occasion t...

Nice!
Once again not strictly on the road but I thought worthy of a photo!
These didn't survive in any great numbers.

Forgot to say there were some lovely examples of vehicles, the standard of restorations has definitely improved over the years. My favourite today would be the Lotus Carlton, underneath was just as impressive as the top. Many hours had been lavished on it.

Re: VBOA 22nd to 24th July 2022

Giving the CD a once over ready for tomorrow's run to Sywell and found n/s rear tyre had lost about 6lbs? Normally pressures stay pretty much spot on. Anyway pumped it up and went for some E10 (£1.81.9!) came back and decided to jack the wheel up and look for the culprit. Nice Pozi headed screw into...

Re: My Little 1.8LSi

Nice one! I've always had to do paint outside and sometimes you have to take a gamble luckily for you it paid off. If it looks like rain I would stick small bits of waterproof tape over any holes where trim is to be fitted and allow paint to cure properly.

Re: Heatwave!!!

Bit of a scorcher! I can understand why cars get covered in white sheets in the hotter countries. My CD lives outside under a cover that is reasonably light in colour so is slightly cooler than if not covered but it still causes my wax treatment to start running again! My daily Astra is polar sea bl...
