Re: SRi restoration project

The v6 is in its own league of slow. lol The F25 gearbox with its huge flywheel make them feel slower than a c20ne lol. They can be made quick with the gearbox changed, They are still only 160 something bhp when new.

Re: My Cavalier Project

Glow plugs are easy to change if there not stuck. You can test them without taking them out. As they are so cheap just renew them. I suspect your valve shims might want checking as this wont of been done as part of the service for years if ever at all.. As for the warming up taking along time..Most ...

Re: Locating a new fuel tank for the old girl - Urgent!

I recently put a new fuel tank on one of my cavaliers. Had the same problems. The tank was the correct part but non genuine..The edges had to be bent like the old original tank. After that it was a perfect fit.

I think its just the difference from genuine to non genuine tank.

I'm not getting them. I never use mine at night or in the rain.. The rain I understand, but why not at night? I was on about my SRi, I only use it on nice days for a drive out in the countryside.. My expression gets used in all weathers day&night. Its not abused thought, It gets very well looke...

Re: NO POWER - ANY IDEAS?

You need to plug in a boost gauge and see what pressure its running at, STD i think they should run around 0.7 bar. Have you checked both air boxes, Only the one on top of the engine should have the air filter in. Also the inlet gasket will need doing i bet. Most do by now.

Re: NO POWER - ANY IDEAS?

The diesel cavalier if running ok, Can be very easily tuned you can up the power to around 100bhp and still be 'safe' and reliable. Also run very well on veg oil which atm is around £13 for 20L

Re: 2.0 lt 16v ecotec or 2.0 lt 8v Sri

Well if its a 1989 SRi it will have the better 2.0 8v engine '20SEH' 130bhp,will also have the f16CR gearbox. Plus the early cavaliers do feel different to drive compared with the later facelift cars.

Is your 1994 Cavalier the SRi ecotec ?
