I've always used 39F 36R on mine even when I changed to fox alloys.
I think they're that high due to the extra weight of the v6.
I've never had any uneven wear & handles great.

To keep the same rolling radius you should use 205/45/16's but you might get away with 50 profile.
There are quite a few calculators that you can check the rolling radius on.
Don't forget its illegal to have an under reading speedo.

Horn stopped working(where is the Relay)
The horn on my 95 tdi cavy has packed up, I have checked for power at the horns and there is none. The fuse has power so does anyone know which relay is the horn one. Does anyone have any bright idea's. once I can locate the relay if that is ok I will have to move onto the steering wheel

AHA! The v6 owners here are starting to outnumber any other engine! Nice looking motor mate... not going into the lights thing ;) ... but as foxy said the alloys look good and I think I spot an Irmscher grill? Not irmscher grill,i made it myself out of the old grill & some ali mesh, :D very fid...
