Oh in that case, you did well then. Sorry to get you into a panic, I thought all 15" fanblades were 5 stud pattern.

Re: C25XE V6 Cav

When did you last change the coolant? A light brown trace under the expansion reservoir cap can be normal, as long as you have a 50/50 water/anti-freeze mix, it should be fine. They shouldn't smoke, not if everything is healthy. When you say white smoke, do you start it outside on a cold morning? As...

Re: Tim's 1992 'K' 1.8 GLS auto...

Yep, bolts are bolts, they do the job regardless of the wheel difference. I can't remember but I think the fanblades are a 5stud pattern? Is your GLS a 4 stud or 5 on the hubs? I hope I'm not right in thinking you bought wheels that won't fit.

Re: Tim's 1992 'K' 1.8 GLS auto...

Awesome, I remember buying a set of those for my old V6, transformed it instantly to what it should look like. The best thing about those fanblades, apart from looking decent, is they are so easy to clean and wax. Unlike all those modern multi-multi-multi spoke wheels, which you basically have to sa...

Re: Tim's 1992 'K' 1.8 GLS auto...

Not sure if there is such a thread here, but basically to remove the aerial grommet (big rubber bung) You need to loosen the nuts and bolts that attach the aerial mast housing/motor assembly to the inner wall of the luggage compartment. Pull back the side trim from the top, that will give you access...

Re: Tim's 1992 'K' 1.8 GLS auto...

I've snapped one while removing it and definitely have heard of others snapping them while removing also. They tend to get corroded, and are a bit too thin for the job really if you look at them.

Re: Tim's 1992 'K' 1.8 GLS auto...

Those are indeed the correct hoses. The rocker cover gauze is bolted to the underside of the rocker cover, so you have to remove the cover to access it. You'll need a new rocker cover gasket by the looks of it too. They are prone to leaking oil over time. Now, word of caution, in case you try removi...

Re: Tim's 1992 'K' 1.8 GLS auto...

Oil breathers, there is the one curved one which runs from the top of the rocker cover from the square shaped mould to the throttle body. Another short fat one just in front of the crank case, above HT leads. The crank case gauze sits inside that square shape bulge in the rocker cover, 2 bolts attac...

Re: Tim's 1992 'K' 1.8 GLS auto...

As cavalier1990 mentioned, there isn't anything tuning wise that's worth doing but if you've bought an example which hasn't been touched under the bonnet apart from servicing, then there are a lot of small things to check which over all that time could have got worn out due to general degradation of...

Mine used to idle smooth, maybe a little lumpy on a hot day but that's normal for basically a carburetted setup.

Robsey, I have to level with you, that is starting to sound awfully strange now. Maybe time to set up a surveillance system and see what goes on when you're not there?

Re: Tim's 1992 'K' 1.8 GLS auto...

The cap is only secured with 3 long thin bolts with star-shaped heads, but I've always used a regular socket, I think 6.5mm if I remember right, seems to fit them well. Inside there will be a plastic ring which sits flush with the edge of the cap where it meets the engine block. The only fiddly bit ...

Re: Tim's 1992 'K' 1.8 GLS auto...

Good stuff, that engine bay has certainly never seen a clean. You most likely got water into the distributor cap, as moisture inside the cap can cause misfiring and rough running. That's about the only fussy spot around the engine compartment. That's a tiny looking battery as well, you should ideall...

A car owner's forum is like a man cave - no Mrs allowed in lol. Exception - the Mrs has a keen interest in or owns a Cavalier.

It does look better, especially with front fogs combination.
